My first scrubs were purchased at a discount chain at $14 a set. I had to make returns because the XS tops were too small and the S sets were too big, and I'm stuck with the ones nonrefundable due to wearing. I later went to another scrub store and discovered Urbane Scrubs, and I am never going back to regular scrubs. They cost about $43 per set, but the extra coin is worth it. Other companies are copying the curve-hugging fit, which is great because soon it recognizes male and female bodies as having different needs.
I used to think that brand name and tailored scrubs were frivolous and vain encouragment for high school-esque fashion shows. This is before I discovered scrubs specially designed for the female figure. Most scrubs were not made to be unisex. Men have straight up-and-down figures that are suited fine for boxy scrubs, but women have hips and breasts. The tops can be too tight around the hips but feel too baggy around the top, both of which makes lifting uncomfortable. The bottoms are straight-legged and give no extra room in the hips or butt, which can be a risk for ripping and wedgies. Buying larger sizes is not a panacea because sleeves and pant legs may drag in messes or catch on things, too much extra fabric can chafe, and they will undoubtedly be too loose in every other area except the hips or butt. Urbanes Scrubs tops are flared at the bottoms, which allows women to have nice childbearing hips. Fabric quality is another issue. My cheapo scrubs are scratchy and stiff even after a load full of Downy, but my Urbane Scrubs are softer but stiff enough to stay wrinkle-free. I love Urbane!
I'm 6ft tall and Urbane fits me best. They have tall pants. I like the bootcut and cargo. I do wish the tops had more than one pocket. The length of the top is great also. I've never exposed anything, had trouble bending and lifting, etc. In fact, they're the only ones that move with me and look good. No trying to fit into unisex and having pulling or tugging at the breast, arm, crotch or elsewhere. I order online to get the talls.
I have yet to find any other brand that fits well and looks nice. Also, the fabric is softer. Like Dickies, however, I'm between a M and L top. Dickies tall pants are too short. Cherokee is scratchy and the proportions of the pants are off. I found Peaches unreliable in their sizing. In fact, the only problem I've had with Urbane is the sleeves are a little short on the jacket, but that's my world and I roll them up an inch anyway.
I purchased my first pair of Urbane scrub bottoms at a discount store for $3.99 very recently, and I must say that I was rather pleased with the fit. They looked tailored, weren't too long, and didn't have that straight 'unisex' look or feel. I have a thick lower body (big butt and large thighs), and these pants still managed to fit nicely and look somewhat flattering.
too bad....urbane scrubs have....only one pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need at least two pockets to function
amen to that!!
i have one pair of urbane scrubs. i love the look but i never wear them because of the missing pocket!
i now wear peaches/izzy instead, same look but they have 2 pockets.

Peaches also makes great ones, great for the legs with some room - and make you look good. Also love love LOVE UA (yes, like urinalysis) uniforms.
The closest store to me is 50 miles away!Um, what I will save in scrub money I will spend in gas! :)
does anyone even go to stores anymore? Hello, order online! Once you know what you wear (the brand and size), the internet is far easier where you can shop in your undies! You can find so many competing stores with the same product... actually going out to shop (other than groceries), I can't tell you the last time I did... ordering online is awesome.
Oops, knocks them out of my intereste, I am tall, (small but tall and most pants can't work that right).Gen
edit: ah, I just looked at the website and can tell by how poorly they sit on the models that they wouldn't work, just venting but, who wants to reach UP to their ribs to use their front lower pockets? It is one of my own pet peeves as is having a colar that is supposed to sit lower on you poking you up in your neck...okay, tall girl rant over. :) (just that they do not look comfortable to me, like my head wouldn't fit through the little top, then again, I am long with wide shoulders yet small-ish) I am happy for you to find joy in clothes that fit!! That is to be celebrated even if I cannot join you!
Also for great winter time scrubs, Lydia's uniforms have some great thicker scrubs (they are softer and look better with each wash, no kidding) with cargo pants. Love those pockets!
Urbane now makes their classic crossover top with 2 pockets and 3 inches longer then the original.
