Occupational Health NP!!!

Published

I am in SC and I am really trying to find some OCH NPs to talk with about Salary expectations. I have been offered a job in a major hospital system but...the salary seems to be a new grad salary at 85000. HR says they don't negotiate and new grads usually start at 80,000 . I am an FNP with 3 years experience. No occupational health experience. Any insight would be appreciated

It's kinda hard to judge based on just the salary alone. What hours does the job entail? I guess OCH is 9-5? M-F?

I would not accept that. I am at 80k as an RN with 7 years. Not taking less esp if I have a masters.

Way too low. I'm in Occ Health and my base is $110,000, this does not include my monthly bonuses and my stipend. I'm in Texas though and that may be the difference.

Not sure what they expect from you for that, not much I'm sure. My salary as an RN was 100k, now as an FNP I'm at 150k. It's hard to believe that there are jobs offering that kind of salary.

150k as an FNP? In what state?

Why are people so suprised at an FNP making 150k? It likely has nothing to do with the state and is just the hours they are working. There are jobs where you can put in more hours which means more money. If you worked 6 x 12s a week as an you could pull like 120k probably more! I know docotors that are doing 6 x 14 hour days as RESIDENTS!

Also, the average salar for NPs according to the BLS is 110k approximately. So You put in some more hours and 150k over a year is not unreachable.

TX, that's after bonus and 8 hours extra a month. I've got two other friends that make more that me. One 200k, the second 180k. Neither works over 40 hours a week.

Can I ask what general area of Texas and what specialty they are in?

Private care is patient/time based. I have heard so many providers talk about how money is all about how fast your turnover is. I have a friend that works in an opthamology clinic. One doc sees 1 patient every like 10-15 minutes. The other one does 1 every 30 min to 1 hr. Guess who makes more? Another friend is a dentist, works for a guy who only does crowns or some simple tooth proceedure for kids bc it's fast. Makes bookoo bucks! You just have to figure out what you like, what you are good at, get exp and go there.
