I was wondering what everyone's GPA and Preference Points were, also I was wondering if the new math placement test is as hard for everyone else as it was for me (I couldn't make the minimum requirement for the 2 preference points) so now I only have 15 preference points with a 3.3 GPA. I don't think I will make it in because of the math test.
From what I understand you have to wait to receive the letter to go to the meeting but I could be wrong. You should definitely call and ask! I do have a question about the 1+1 program though do they mean 30 students period are allowed into this program or 30 students are allowed for each votech?
Also I thought I read in this post that the first 30 people were asked to attend the meeting but I am alternate number 49 and I received my letter to attend the meeting...does that mean they are asking everyone that did not get into the program to go? I am just trying to figure out my chances of getting into this program!

All, very good questions... And wt..? Why hasn't anyone contacted me about the meeting? I spoke with someone in Admissions & Recruitment, as well as, Health Professions. I called the day I received my letter stating I was an alternate. I was told and wrote it down:
30 people are called by *** to be invited to participate in the 1+1. There was nothing for me to do...
This is causing me a bit of anxiety... I do not want to call again and sound like I do not know how to respect the process. But, I don't want to be overlooked bc I didn't speak up for myself when I possibly should have............. This is fun... Yay!
As to your question, I obviously don't know, hahaha... But, I would assume 30 total from OCCC are invited, bc there are other 2-year RN programs that participate in the 1+1. So... Best of luck to everyone!!!
What was your alternate number? I am wondering if you are ahead of me. I also wonder if they just pick people who have finished a lot of the classes needed for the program now instead of picking the first 30 on the alternate list. I am number 49 but I have also finished EVERY single class I need (besides the nursing processes) to graduate. I am confused on how the process is going right now but I would DEFINITELY call. They probably do not remember you from before and I know they have made mistakes with me in the past.
But the good news is, if you say they only invite 30 that means that everyone invited gets a chance to actually do the program. It's not like they invite 50 students and there are only 30 spots. (I hope anyways).
I actually just went back and read that you are alternate 4. They probably did not send a letter to you because you will most likely get into the program! They are probably just waiting for everyone to turn in their conformation letters to let the alternates know they got in.
I DON'T CARE what number I am...!!! hahahahha!!! If anyone else was #4, I would be rolling my eyes at them right now. But, this is my life! And I need to cover my bases. Ask me to the 1+1 meeting, in case I need to be there!
Can you tell the "unknowingness" is getting to me...? I am supposed to be on vacation from a stressful semester. And yes, I have most all of my classes completed. I only have 3 gen ed courses to finish. I'm saving them for intersessions, so I can maintain FT status each semester. It's a bit puzzling to me that NPs are only 9 credits...
C'est la vie!
Yes this is suppose to be a vacation from school stress but I feel the stress too! I tried so hard not to get my hopes up to high about this new program but I can't help it. This is such good news because I have been at OCCC since fall 07 trying to get this nursing stuff together and my scholarship runs out in 1 year! Even if you are number 4 I would be calling and asking questions too! I definitely understand you wanting to cover all your bases!
When I was in the nursing program the first time I was very confused about NP's only being 9 credit hours..what they do not tell you is that with your labs they are actually 12 hours which means you are fully time! I found out from another student and went to records and they confirmed. If you need a note (for insurance, scholarships, ect.) go to records and tell them you need a note saying you are in nursing school and you are full time! I was very angry to find out that it is full time and no one ever tells you that, they dont even mention it in orientation I was taking an extra class to be full time and I did not even need to!
