Obamacare, what could go wrong?

Published

"Let me get this straight . . .

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a... President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!

What the hell could possibly go wrong?'"

-Donald Trump

I have no personal opinion on the actual health care plan yet. (I need to see it in action to see what I think of it I suppose)

but I do agree with Albert Einstein when he said " The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" Indeed the old way sure wasn't working.

claiming you didn't pay attention to something you read doesn't excuse you from making inaccurate statements.

what inaccurate statements did i make????

FLmomof5, Here is the full text of the ACA: http://www.healthcare.gov/law/resources/authorities/patient-protection.pdf

None of your references match up. I had wondered if you were referring to a different version than the final one which would make the pages and lines not match up, but I know "end of life planning" reforms were not part of the ACA, (although they should have been, I just finished unnecessarily torturing someone not more than 3 hours ago, torture I'm pretty sure he would have said he didn't want had it been someone's responsibility to ask him before he had a massive stroke).

"Many will seek care they wouldn't have before..." Isn't that an increase in demand?

I agree with you that preventive medicine is the way to go. But who is going to provide preventive care to all those who now are going to seek it? And many think this isn't enough. They want more health services at lower prices. Some want free and unlimited healthcare. Who is going to provide all these services, and where is it going to happen?

The goal is to shift, not increase, overall demand from expensive high acuity care to preventative care. Imagine you are medicare, and at some point everyone will be your responsibility to care for. Would you prefer to inherit these new patients as they turn 65 with well controlled medical issues, or on the verge of multiple debilitating illnesses?

As for who will fill the demand for increased preventative care, there's actually a surplus of NP's out there ready to fill these needs, and ACA provides funds to make sure there are more. Compared to the economic collapse that awaits us if don't succeed in shifting our treatment of diseases from ICUs to clinics, satisfying the demand of clinic staffing is miniscule. We went to the moon at a time when our level of technology didn't yet include pocket calculators, if we can't do something as comparatively simple as expanding the capacity of our clinics in order to ensure the viability of our economy and our country, then we probably don't deserve to remain viable anyway.

I think you would have been better off giving a quote from Donald Duck rather than Donald Trump. This is the same guy who has filed bankruptcy 3 years back to back( what kind of economics courses did Wharton provide him with?). This is the same guy who attacked President Barack Obama for being a non U.S. citizen because he was born in Hawaii( Did he not take a geography course with that Ivy league education). This is the same guy who proposed eliminating corporate taxes all together and placing the burden on the U.S. working class.

Is this really the go to guy for policy discernment?

I went there by myself.... hmmm 974 pages. Where are the other 1100 pages?

I failed to mention, this is the same guy who opened up a business school and forgot he had to be credentialed in order to consider himself a NY accredited college.

Donald Trump and Fox News....What's new? I would rather receive my information from "The Sun" than those two sources. Pick up one of his bestselling novels and see exactly how his business techniques apply to the real world. Each novel reads like a personal planner rather than a business guide.

Laughable!

Funny how Fox news is so attacked yet is the most watched news station....how the likes of MSNBC, CNN et al keep losing market share....

If you want to attack Fox, please bring forth a false presentation done by Fox and have facts to back it up.

Where should we begin?

Should we begin when Fox news broadcasted in July of 2010..."Caucasian Americans need to be afraid, black people are coming to get you. Black organizers are coming to take your rights away".

What about in 2006 when Fox news reported the government were holding Hurricane Katrina victims hostage in the super dome. Lets go back to when Fox news allowed Rush Limbaugh to organize a protest in Washington against President Barack Obama and the Tea Party?

Also, being the most watched news program does not negate the fact of its immoral journalism. Also, you may add that FOX news is the only news source available in all U.S. markets. But, in major metros CBS news is the most watched news channel.

Umm, I did say facts. ie: links.
