Obamacare, what could go wrong?

"Let me get this straight . . .

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a... President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!

What the hell could possibly go wrong?'"

MunoRN....thanks for the link.... I will review. I *DID* search both via google and yahoo and NO, I could not find a link with more than 900 and change pages.

I saw a post on another site that I originally posted that contained the following "alleged facts" regarding Obamacare. I wanted to edit with actual links, but could not immediately substantiate the page/section s as posted. I looked for a considerable time for the actual FULL text of the bill, without success.

D/T the post on the prev page, I did scan the full text. The page numbers and sections are inaccurate. (no surprise there) However, I did find text that the OP on another site may have been alluding to - only on a different page. To wit, for honesty sake, here is the OP post in it's entirety:

"Health Bill Highlights

**

Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to ALL" NON -U.S." residents, even if they are here "ILLEGALLY".

**

Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

**

Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN). ** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?) ** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees. ** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age. ** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception. ** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..) ** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

** Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress."

I am nervous, curious, hopeful, excited, and scared all in one. IT IS NEW. New ideas and projects can be scarey, I acknowledge it. I also acknowledge that change is GOOD, even if it ultimately fails. We can learn from the failures and move on with the lessons we have learned.

I agree with a previous poster. Patients will not suddenly fall from the sky. The same stubborn person who never sees the doctor until their limb turns green will always have a place in our health care system. I mean this tongue in cheek, but it is true to some extent. The same people who hate going to the doctor will not suddenly be zombie brainwashed into swarming the physician offices and hospitals for procedures, they will carry on as usual. The people who have been using the ER as their PCP will have other options.

Everyone is in the 'pool', which is a needed piece if the pie in keeping costs minimal.

We really need malpractice reform. We really need to reform the public opinion that every procedure will have a great outcome.

Poor outcomes can occur if a physician does everything 100% correctly, by the book, no mistakes. YET, he is sued for this outcome. Even though we sign papers stating risks, people sue. This needs to stop. If you have a 50% chance of being paralyzed from a surgery, and the outcome is ultimately paralysis, it sucks, but the physician did not necessarily do anything negligent.

We need change ALL around.
