What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Starquisha.

I had a friend in an ER that said she had a patient come in named "Abcde." The patient said it's pronounced "uh-bee-cee-dee." That's probably the craziest I've heard of.

Sounds like someone stomping starfish on the beach!

Well, thankyou for not posting the usual 'lemonjello', etc!:lol2:

Twin girls Londynn & Mylan(pronounced Milan like the city)

I can't even remember the names of the 3 babies in the pod I was in the other day but I remember not being able to pronounce any of them and thinking they were all odd...

I get frustrated when the parents come in and I have to say "hi, i'm umcRN and i'm taking care of your daughter/son today" because I can't pronounce the names

that is too funny, what an oddity

I've actually heard of two different instances in separate cities where the mothers named their chidren "Female" (pronounced Fee-mah-lee). Apparently both thought that the paperwork they had to fill out after that special moment only gave them a choice of names: Male or Female.

A new mother was taken to the NICU to see her premie. She questioned the NICU nurse on the equipment the baby was in(incubator). The mother was impressed by the name, and guess what-she named her baby after the incubator, spelling it "INCABADA". True story that was told to me by a NICU Nurse Educator.

Most of these make me wonder just how foolish and self-centered these parents (mostly moms I see) have to be to hate their kids that much?? I mean, to be knowingly pregnant for 8 months at least and not even have something as basic as a name picked out for your child before it's born, and stumbling over some word you don't even understand the meaning of, and decide on the spur of the moment to saddle your child with it the rest of their lives? Please....

Montserrat, for a girl.

Nice, I suppose, but she was in the NICU and someone made her a cute name sign. At first glance it looked like "Monster rat"

:rotfl: :yeah:

You gotta remember that some of these parents don't even know how they got pregnant in the first place. Ignorance is still a word. Poor babies (young and old)!!!
