What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

We had a patient in my office named Bichi Nguyen pronounced [i swear] "****** When". And it didn't have to do with first names but was funny, we saw a family of Sipps in the morning and Cupps in the afternoon. And I went to high school with a Tella Graham and a Cherry Wood. My mom knew a girl named "Teflon" because her momma loved Teflon when it came out [my mom is almost 60].

The newborn I am taking care of tonight is Velvet Violet. :) could be worse....

Are you saying the name Les Paul is weird or that it's weird to name a baby after him?

Houdini

Crew

I have formulated a set of rules I wish we could get legislated.

#1 If the child will never be able to say or spell the name.

#2 If the child will never be able to pronounce the name.

#3 If it will get them beat up at school.

#4 If it is just plain stupid.

Then we will assign you a name for your baby.

NOW that is good legislation! :yeah:

I went to school with a boy named Dartagnian. (SP??)

The names Margarita and Montserrat are both Hispanic names that are normal in their culture. Margarita isn't only an alcoholic drink. LOL. ;)

D'Artagnan was one of the Three Musketeers. When I was growing up in Des Moines, there was a prominent local musician named Dartanyan Brown, which is how that name is pronounced.

I ran into one yesterday--Naexavious Rrhonan :uhoh3: He's 8yrs old. I can't imagine how long it took him to learn to spell it. And I know of an Antoineisha. Unfortunately, she has Down Syndrome and has never learned to spell her name, although she knows her letters and numbers. After the capital A, she's lost.

At my school I have

Amiricul Uneeque(pronounce a-miracle unique)

Precious Unique

Precious Lake

Miracle Unique

Uniqiue Princess

I'm guessing Uneeque/Unique/Uniqiue aren't as You-neek as they thought.:lol2:
