While rotating through OB clinicals last summer, the nurse I followed told me her patient the day earlier had named her little boy "Meconium". Now, this is just sad!

Last night, I was watching some reality show, and one of the contestants was named candida. Certainly not a name I would choose for my daughter to go through life answering to....

I had a friend in high school whose aunt named her baby "Misty Dawn".

Hoping for her to grow up to be a stripper?

Our local paper recently ran a story about the first baby born in the New Year. The honored infant had an older sister named "Strange". The paper made a point of publishing the phonetic pronunciation: stran JAY.

I was at Home Depot recently, dealing with a clerk who was not the brightest bulb in the marquee. When I noticed her name on her name tag, I almost split a gut! "Average". My first thought was, "No, perhaps a little below average."

There was a guy who worked at my old gym whose first name was, I kid you not, "Mister."

He called one day to remind me of a complimentary upcoming personal trainer appointment. My husband answered, and I kept hearing him say, "Mister WHO? Mister WHO? What is your FIRST name? What is your LAST name? WHO should I tell her is calling?"

It was Mister Mister calling. One of those "Who's on first?" moments.

There is an actual doctor at our hospital whose name is Dick Tapper. He is a urologist!
