Our local paper recently ran a story about the first baby born in the New Year. The honored infant had an older sister named "Strange". The paper made a point of publishing the phonetic pronunciation: stran JAY.
I was at Home Depot recently, dealing with a clerk who was not the brightest bulb in the marquee. When I noticed her name on her name tag, I almost split a gut! "Average". My first thought was, "No, perhaps a little below average."
also had a patient once named anita dick ( i would change my name)
moe: moe's tavern, moe speaking.
bart: hi. i'm looking for anita. last name dick.
moe: hold on. hey! anita dick! does anyone know anita dick!
bart: ha ha ha ha!!! :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle
was she old? i had a pt. once named doris chicken! she was this nasty old, (literally) chicken-looking thing!!
We had a woman a few weeks ago name her daughter Honey.
The only thing that kept running through my head was "Everyone please welcome to the stage....Honey!"
Also a few months ago had a family name their daughter Foxy, after her great-grandmother. Nice to carry on a family name, but Foxy!
There was a guy who worked at my old gym whose first name was, I kid you not, "Mister."
He called one day to remind me of a complimentary upcoming personal trainer appointment. My husband answered, and I kept hearing him say, "Mister WHO? Mister WHO? What is your FIRST name? What is your LAST name? WHO should I tell her is calling?"
It was Mister Mister calling. One of those "Who's on first?" moments.
