Hi there, anyone getting ready to interview in the next couple months for the Oakland University Accelerated nursing program? Thought this would be a good place in share experiences! Good luck!
Also, does anybody in the program already have any advice for the next couple agonizing months? Thanks in advance!
I don't know these people personally but a they are friends of someone I know. I am not sure if they reapplied or not. My opinion is nursing schools should look favorably on people who reapply since they obviously want this badly enough to do so. I think being nervous in an interview is normal and I bet you did better than you think. They expect people to be nervous and this doesn't mean you didn't do well. When I said 'make or break' is I think they can figure out by talking to you if you can succeed or not. If you have the passion for nursing, it will show. If you look like you are going through the motions, then that will likely show. By them not giving you negative feedback, I would take that as you did well. Good luck!!
This looks like great news for everyone, how exciting. Now it's just a waiting game to see if we get accepted or not! Maybe with the changes taking place we'll be finding out sooner!
For those that interviewed this round I wonder how many are eligible to start this fall? I will be after the summer when I take my last online course. I wonder how many they are accepting for the fall round now after all the changes.
Depending on how many were moved up(sounds like ~ 25) to May 2010, I would imagine an equal number of spots would open up in the Fall. I have two classes to complete and I will wait to hear about an acceptance and my chance of moving up before I commit to taking the classes. For me, I would rather take them right before I start the main program. But starting in the fall would be great
Hi! The final 3 classes, do we have to take at OU? At the information session I attended a while back, the person said that it is hard to get the final 3 taken at another school to transfer to OU. I just wondered if anyone found a course from another community college or even university to transfer to OU. I have taken patho, pharm, and nutrition, but I got a feeling I will be taking them again.
MelBell2005,
I had asked this same question at OU and was told that YES, you do need to take the remaining 3 classes at OU. I was told that there was no guarantee that they would accept transfer credits from any other school for nutrition, pathophys, or pharm. Being that you have already taken them elsewhere, it doesn't hurt to submit those courses with a syllabus and see what response you get. At worse they can say no. It doesn't hurt to give it a try considering you've already done the work. If they do say no, the good part is that those 3 classes are online courses.
I agree with SA - I went to two information meetings and they pretty much let you know they want you take the online classes at Oakland. I already took one (Patho) and really liked it. I like the fact that all three are online and if I am fortunate to be accepted, I can still work while I take the last two. Plus, I think it's a good idea to have these classes as close to the start term as possible so you remain fresh with the material. I know I have to brush up on some patho since you forget many of the concepts. Hopefully we all hear in the next few weeks. My hope is sooner rather than later.
I just checked availability and it looks like there are still openings this summer for Nutrition but not the other two. I am currently taking the nutrition class and have registered for both patho and pharm this summer - they are back-to-back 8 week classes. Obviously I will drop them both if i don't get accepted...but I don't want to think about that.
I heard they have emailed decisions in the past and then send out letters. But they may have changed things up now. I am thinking they will let people know soon since registration is coming up for the Fall. But I plan on signing up for classes just in case. I am taking Pharm and Nutrition in the Fall.

Just wondering if any of the people you know from last year that didn't get in reapplied? Does anyone ever get in on a second application after being denied? My interview went ok but I wouldn't say it was great. If this is the make or break part of the process I am not confident at this point. I was very nervous but they seemed to respond to me and didn't give any negative feedback.
