Published

Hello all ?

I am applying for Oakland Community College Nursing program in a few weeks and have loads of questions. Are you applying too? What's the GPA cut off? If you've graduated from or attended the program, how was/is it? Which is better, fall or winter start?

I am excited to apply and excited to meet other applying as well! We've got this!

@knrogers54321 Hawaii? I am super jealous! That is going to be tons of fun!!

@Asidelko I went to key west last Summer and it was a blast. You're going to have so much fun!

So will we get out letters on Monday the 16th?

The 16th is the day they send them out! I figure mine will get here on the 17th or 18th

What is every ones plan with working if they get in? Is there any one planning on working still, or trying to at least?

My husband is a nurse and he would work one or two days a week, but pick up more shifts if he could handle it. I also knew someone who was a mom and worked full time and graduated nursing school ontime.

I think I am going to keep working, but let my employer know I will have to call off at times if school becomes overwhelming.

My husband also said that nursing school is hard, but 100% doable and enjoyable once you learn the new way of studying and test taking. I'm excited!

SO I applied for graduation at OCC. Apparently all of the pre-reqs for nursing (plus a few more) also get you an Associate in Art degree! I don't feel like this was a total waste of time now!

I’m excited and very nervous! I think I may ask if I can go contingent instead of having a set schedule. We don’t get to control anything about our schedules, that makes it hard for my job. Thank you for the info it’s nice to hear from someone who has first had experience!

That's great! Don't quote me but I am pretty sure once you have a degree you would be able to apply for Oakland University accelerated nursing program. My friend had a degree in something not related to science and she got accepted.

Oh thats awesome! I finish up my pre-reqs for OU this Summer, and then turning my application in for OU. They don't use a point system or deduct points for transfers or retakes; so I am feeling hopeful!!

I think for Oakland accelerated program you need A minimum of a bachelors. Madonna and Wayne State has similar programs. Has anyone looked into Davenport nursing program?

I looked, you're right. A bachelors of any degree outside of Nursing. I have not looked into Davenport. I have my HESI for Chamberlain tomorrow morning, and my transcripts have all been sent to Wayne. Has anyone looked into any other universities?
