OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2019

Pre-nursing students applying for Fall 2020/Winter 2021 start date at Oakland Community College

Hello all ?

I am applying for Oakland Community College Nursing program in a few weeks and have loads of questions. Are you applying too? What's the GPA cut off? If you've graduated from or attended the program, how was/is it? Which is better, fall or winter start?

I am excited to apply and excited to meet other applying as well! We've got this!

Hey!

just took the HESI today and on Monday I’ll be turning in my application!!

hope we get in!

@velvettt YAY! Now we just have to wait until next March ?

I'm also applying!

@Magda EM I have a friend who applied and got in this fall and she told me that she had a few people in her class who thought they wouldn't get in because of their GPA but did! Hopefully everyone gets accepted!

What’s the lowest points you’ve heard about getting in? I retook some classes which caused me to lose the retake points. What’s everyone’s scores?

@velvettt So it's 17 points total. I have 17 (lots of hard work and extreme anxiety of not getting in helped me keep my 4.0) BUT a few of my other classmates had anywhere from around 12 to 15 and a lot of them got in this past year. Also, some years they do not even have enough people who apply to fill all of the seats for the program so literally everyone gets accepted. Which is amazing because people make mistakes during their pre reqs and can do much better in the actual program.

I feel like you have to really bomb it to not get in, but most people going for nursing are very dedicated. I sure you will be okay! My close friend got in with 14 points and a 3.2 GPA. She said the program is awesome!

I have 13.8 and I'm freaking out I won't get in ?

@Magda EM that's not as low as some other scores I've heard that are applying this year!

That makes me feel better. It's terrible we have to wait for so long?

Hello everyone! I turned my app in this past Thursday. I was reading last year's thread and the cut off point calculation was a little over 12, I believe. That was with around 240 applicants. So hopefully everyone gets in! I am pretty sure there is something like 215 spots available. I am very excited, hoping I make the cut.

@Tracy Dushaj my counselor was very nice and said that almost everyone that applies gets in. Sometimes all of the seats are not even filled! Wish everyone that applies the best of luck ☺️

Once we find out we should start a facebook group so we can all cry together during finals ?
