OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2019

Pre-nursing students applying for Fall 2020/Winter 2021 start date at Oakland Community College

Published

Hello all ?

I am applying for Oakland Community College Nursing program in a few weeks and have loads of questions. Are you applying too? What's the GPA cut off? If you've graduated from or attended the program, how was/is it? Which is better, fall or winter start?

I am excited to apply and excited to meet other applying as well! We've got this!

I read that last year the lowest amount of points was 12.2... I have my fingers crossed for all of us!! The anxiety over the next three months is gonna be real!!!

What's the lowest amount of points everyone has heard of people applying? I'm already anxious over waiting, and this would be so much easier if we knew the amount of applicants for the year. ?

Well, application deadline has passed. Hopefully there are less applicants than spots. Then, as long as people have met all prerequisite qualifications, they're in!! ?

@Asidelko In both of my A&P classes and Micro most of my classmates said they were attempting to get in with B's and some C's, so I don't think there will be many people with 17 points. I think anyone between 14 and 17 points will 100% get in. I hope everyone that applies gets in!

I wish we could find out how many applicants there are.

@knrogers54321 I'm at 13.26 because of transfer credits, and a priority 1. I surely hope its the same as last year where the cut off was 12.02! My GPA for the 5 courses is a 3.5....fingers crossed!!!!

@Tracy Dushaj I sent an email to the highland lakes counselor whom I met with to complete my application. Hopefully she can say how many have applied like they did in the previous years!

@Asidelko can you tell me how you calculated? I'm just assuming I have 17 because I got all A's, no transfers besides one english class that was not required for the program, and I got a 90 on the HESI (tho I believe all you had to do was pass that with a 75, score doesn't actually matter). No retakes either.

You'll get in, don't stress too much! I wish we found out in January lol.

@Asidelko Let us know if she replies!

The nursing admissions handbook has the formula for calculating your rank score.

@knrogers54321 you add up your GPA for the five classes, divide it by 5 and multiply it by 3. you then add or subtract points based on repeats and transfers. the highest you can end up with is 17. the hesi doesnt play a role in your grade, you just have to pass it in order to apply.

@Tracy Dushaj she wrote back and said that she isn't sure how many, all they do is process them. She did say we can call the nursing department and ask, we have a 50/50 shot of them telling us.

@Tracy Dushaj @Asidelko This is going to be a stressful few months lol

@knrogers54321 it definitely is!!!! I can feel the stress eating sinking in already ??
