Oakland community college 2016 applicants

Published

Hello everyone,,

is is anyone here waiting for their acceptance letter to Oakland community college? Also are there any students here that is currently in the program? I am really pump to get started and is looking for any advice I can receive about the program in general.

Brie books are gonna be $175 not including the syllabus if you buy it from the bookstore. You can get it cheaper on Amazon if you don't mind renting your books. I personally like to highlight so I bought mine. As far as classes go you can look online at tuition rates and its there..

Sorry for your loss Robert!

I had a quick question for everyone. Does anyone know how much of a time commitment Foundations of Nursing will be? Hear anything about it from past/current students? (How many days/hours spent in class.. clinicals.. etc.) I know it isn't until the Fall (for me anyway!) but I was offered a job and am debating on whether or not to accept it because I am not sure if I will be able to put as much time as I need to into school. I don't want to accept it and then burn a bridge by quitting in a few months when the class starts. Especially since it is at St. Joe's Mercy Oakland and they signed a contract saying they will hire me as a nurse right out of school as long as I am good employee, lol! I would hate to pass it up, but of course school comes first.

Any insight anyone?

P.S. Still not registered for Pharm. Come on, nursing faculty... I've had enough of the waiting game already!

Jasmine I have some friends graduating from the program this month and they told me it usually goes like this. Monday: Foundation for about 2-3 hrs,, Tuesday-Wednesday: Clinicals and they are 8hrs shifts. Can be morning, evenings,or nights.,, Thursday: lab, usually 3 hours,, and we have the rest of the week/weekend off but we will be studying. Hope this helps

I have no choice but to work full time. Luckily for my i work 3 shifts/week working 12 hour shifts. Best of luck at St. Joe's, I hear they are great to work for and I am sure they will work with your school schedule.

I'm officially registered for pharm on Friday at 9am

Good afternoon everyone,

Let me start by saying my deepest condolences for your loss Robert, I hope you have a strong support system in your time of need right now. Congratulations on the new job Jasmine, I agree with Robert they will most likely work with your schedule if they know your going to nursing school. I am registered now Kelvin finally :woot: but I couldn't find the book online for rental or purchase..where did you look?

I'm registered for Pharm also, I take it Monday 2-5:55pm. Brie just go to the school website and look under the tab that says "student services" and click "Bookstore". You will be redirect to the bookstore page. Just hit the "Textbook" tab and click "buy/rent". Afterwards you will be redirected again, from that page you just select your term(2016 summer semester),department(NUR), course(NUR 1290), and section(any all the books are the same for pharm so choose any teacher, ig).

Oh and jasmine out of state tuition is $387..
