Hey SimpleLife320,

When I called yesterday, I told them that I had heard back from other schools and would like to know my application status with them, so I could make a decision. The woman on the phone put me on hold for a short period of time, and when she came back she told me I had been admitted and I would be receiving a packet in the mail with more information. So, I would assume when they told you 'packet' that was a good thing! Good Luck!

Hello ME21900,

I have a Bachelor's in Public Health and I will be apply to NYU's Accelerated Program. But I am still missing some prereqs, please tell me the sequence of classes you are taking at BMCC.

Hello CAC-Future-RN

I took the pre-reqs that are required by NYU and most nursing programs. For example:

In the Spring I took:A&P I - Bio 425

Chemistry - Chem 121

Phycology (life span) - Psy 240

Summer: Statistics - Mat 150

A&P II - Bio 426

Fall: Micro Bio - Bio 420

Nutrition - Sci 150

Hope this helps

ME21900, thank you responding!

I already took statistics and developmental psychology. I would just need A&P 1 and 2, Chem, Micro, and Nutrition. Since you are already there, are they any pre reqs for the courses I am missing?

Also, is NYU your only choice? Or are you applying to other schools as well?

No, since you have a degree already you won't need to complete any pre reqs, although Chem is a pre req for A&P i do recommend you take that 1st.

NYU is my 1st choice but I will be considering other schools: Columbia and Pace.

Oh ok..That makes sense. I am sorry to ask so many questions but I just want to get all the information I can get. Once you complete your courses at BMCC, will you still be able to apply the Columbia ETP Program with those exact courses? Also, are you preparing for your GRE? Again, I am sorry to ask loll

Oh and Columbia ETP Program has a Facebook Page, I have not been able to see yet.

I know some of you have received an admissions decision by calling, but are we to expect that our notification come via email? I'm still confused about this, and haven't gotten a direct answer from the College of Nursing. Congrats to all of you have been accepted! I have called Undergraduate Admissions but all they have told me is that I should find out in the next few weeks. I didn't even get the response "call back in 7 days if you haven't heard from us." Not sure how to interpret that, but really hoping to hear soon!

Best,

-A

Its okay, questions are not a problem that's why we are on this thread for to help each other answer questions.

Yes this is my last semester at BMCC then I will be applying to my other choices, but off the top of my head I can't remember what exactly columbia and pace are requiring but I know I am done with all my pre reqs this semester.

As far as my GREs I am planning to take them in January, preparing for them now.

Hi everyone, and Congratulations to those that got accepted!

I, too, have applied for NYU for spring 2011 (Accelerated) and anxiously waiting for decision. In fact, I called this tuesday and was able to speak with an admission counselor, and was told that my decision was actually made on October 27th! That's been more than a week.. She wouldn't tell me the decision over the phone, but told me that I should be receiving a "packet" soon. The word packet is throwing me off quite a bit.. For those you that received decision over the phone, did you directly call the nursing deparment? I think I will call if I don't hear until tommorrow afternoon.. Did they say we'll be receiving decision by email by the end of this week?

Hi simplelife!

I think the word "packet" means you got in!! Because they will send you all the info for the semester registration, financial aid etc.

I found out 2 days ago over the phone and still did not receive any emails or letter/packet....I'm so anxious!!

I know they told me I got in bit until I see a proof I still don't believe it!!

I think they are just gonna send out a massive number of responses that's why they are taking so long. They probably want to do them all together...at least for the people who applied by October 1st.

Good luck everyone and keep us posted!

Hello everyone, after about 2 years of surfing this site while preparing for nursing school I am adding my first post! I found out I was accepted to NYU Spring 2011 yesterday. The letter came in the mail and was post marked the 4th. I called the admissions dept on Friday to follow-up on the status of my application and the woman told me that I would find out by mail soon. I was so surprised to find my packet in the mailbox on Saturday. Now time to start preparing. Does anyone know what the best way would be to find a roommate? I'd prefer to live with someone who is also in the program. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to those waiting to hear!

Hey BostonRuby,

I have also been accepted for the Spring semester and am looking for housing and roommates, preferably in the program as well. Im just not sure where to start! I emailed someone from the nursing admissions and they told me our acceptance packet would include housing information...but I read over it and it didn't seem to help much!

Hi JessLB13,

Congrats! I'm planning to get my loans squared away this week and then start looking into the living arrangements. I was planning to somehow find someone to live with that is in the program, that will also be pinching pennies throughout the duration of the program. I didn't see much in the acceptance packet in reference to housing either.

I was looking at the cost of tuition on the NYU website today and was wondering if you or anyone else knows how people are getting the 65K number for the total cost of the program. I keep reading people's posts on this blog and they round the cost of tuition for the Accelerated NYU Nursing Program up to @ 65K (not including living expenses). By my math it's closer to 80K. Do you know if I am missing something or has the tuition gone up that much? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!
