Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)
My Stats:
Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38
Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA
Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years
Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year
Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit
For anybody looking for the Facebook group and having trouble finding it, on Facebook if you search for "nyu absn spring" and in the dropdown click "Find all groups named "nyu absn spring"" then one of the options that comes up is the 2015 group. Whenever I was searching for "nyu absn spring 2015" nothing was coming up. Search on Facebook is strange like that.
If anyone else has viewed their Bursar Bill, can you help me figure out something? It shows the estimated cost of attendance for the Spring 2015 semester as being $33,310. Is this the same for all four semesters? That's over $130,000. Am I missing something?
Hey spaceshuttleboy - I know I'm a bit late to this convo, but I was shocked when I saw that too! I guess its the total estimated cost of attendance. So it quoted the actual tuition as $21,873 and then everything else is the cost of attendance outside of tuition. So housing is included in that cost as $8,391/semester (approx. $1600/mo). So I guess there are some things that could be cut out to save some money, but overall it is definitely a lot. I am trying to make a decision as well. UW sounds like an amazing option!! I have heard from all of my schools and I really love NYU, but I'm not a fan of the cost. If I could just find some more scholarships I think it could be a possibility but I dunno, I'm so stuck! Has anyone worked out funding with private loans yet? That is the route I will be taking and I'm trying to pick the best lender.
Hey Bryn10,
I've ultimately decided that I will not accept the offer to go to NYU. As much as I'm grateful to have gotten in, going there at that cost doesn't seem to be worth it for me. Coincidentally, just yesterday I got accepted with a very, very substantial scholarship to the University of Rochester, which itself is a fraction of the cost of NYU, and I'm gonna start there for January. Someone from the waitlist will get to take my spot at NYU. Good luck!

Hi All,
Just a general question - for those of you who opted into NYU housing -- how much does that come out to per semester?
