NYU Spring 2015 ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)

My Stats:

Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38

Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA

Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years

Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year

Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit

Hello everyone, I was just accepted into the accelerated spring cohort yesterday. Echoing what others have said, I don't know if I can justify the costs of this program. It would mean for me taking out massive student loans to cover both tuition and cost of living. I love the idea of NYU, and the city itself. For anyone else in this predicament, are you considering not accepting admission while not knowing results of your other school applications? I am thinking about dropping the $500 just to secure my spot, and compare the offers from other schools if and when they come in. I'm super excited, and incredibly overwhelmed at the same time. So happy for everyone who was accepted, and best wishes to the rest still waiting.

Mark

Everything that you just said +1.

I'm thinking to myself, "oh, I'll just be poor and indebted for the rest of my life but at least I went to NYU and lived in NYC." Who knows? I might meet Beyoncé somewhere in Lower Manhattan one Friday. Then it would be worth it. Gonna pay the $500 while I wait to hear from University of Washington.

Hahaha! Dying at the Beyoncé comment. Holding on to the sheer thought of that alone makes the cost worth it lol

Thankfully I have a trust fund that covers the cost of tuition... I need to take out small loan for housing... If I didn't have that idk how I would be able to attend nyu

Hi everyone. I just got my acceptance email this week for NYU nursing (I'm a second degree applicant half way through my pre req's for accelerated program), starting Spring 2015. In the email it says this:

"Please understand that your offer of admission is only valid beginning with the upcoming semester. University policy does not allow transfers to defer their admission or enrollment."

Does this mean I have to start at NYU in January and take my remaining pre-req's at NYU? (meaning I'd be a part-time student until the full time accelerated starts in May?) I'm so confused!

congrats mark! I was accepted to the second degree spring 2015 class. what have you calculated the cost of just tuition for the 15 month program? I am just looking for a ball park figure....

Congrats on crna school. I was just accepted to NYU nursing accelerated program. in what way did NYU you prepare for crna school, where did you get work experience before applying for crna school, and where did you get into crna school?

thanks so much!

Hi Mj505,

Congrats on your acceptance! And yes, this means you have to finish the rest of your pre reqs at NYU starting January and the following semester ( I thought it was fall but maybe you're right and its summer) you begin the 15 month accelerated program. I applied as a second degree student too

ok, wow. That's a big change pretty quickly since I'm still living in Virginia right now! Better fasten my seat belt....;) did you get in too? I sure hope so.

Hope you get in!!!

I was going to start a group! just request and ill accept ya!! looking forward to meeting you guys!

Oh wow! Yeah that'll be a huge change for you MJ505! I'm sure you'll love it though! I'm from NJ but I absolutely love NYC :)

Thanks!! I hope I get in too (duh right? lol)...I haven't heard anything yet but tomorrow's Tuesday! Keeping my fingers crossed for me and everyone else still waiting :saint:

Are they even sending out rejections? My fear is that they're only sending out acceptances now and come December they'll send out a flood of rejections

Hey everyone! I have been a regular (albeit silent) follower of this forum for a few months. Like many of you, I applied by the priority deadline (for the non-accelerated option because I have to do a few more prerequisite courses). I was very excited to receive an acceptance letter on November 18th, and I cannot wait to get started. I already live in the New York area and, this is random, but I happen to be a broker. I have a gmail account with the same user name I'm using here, so anyone needing help please feel free to email me there. Good luck to those waiting as well as those of you figuring out which school to attend!
