NYU Spring 2015 ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the NYU Spring 2015 ABSN program and haven't been able to find any threads about the program yet. Feel free to post questions you have or to share information about the program, your personal stats, advice for writing the personal statement or just to say hi. Here's to speedy acceptances and a fun future in nursing! :)

My Stats:

Just graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Psychology and an overall GPA of 3.38

Got an A in almost all the pre-reqs, don't know the pre-req GPA

Volunteered as an EMT for 4 years and worked for 2 years

Worked as a Direct Care Worker for 1 year

Volunteer in Methodist Hospital in the Stepdown Unit

Hi everyone! I am new to this thread. I received my acceptance email on 11/11 and I am still waiting to hear about the financial aid. I live on Long Island and NYU is my first choice but I'm just worried about the cost. Good luck all!!

I wish!!! I really want to find out the most I will get so I can decide if I will go there or not. Also, people in that past have mentioned the rudin scholarship, any one how much that is for???

So as for financial aid I called today and they weren't very friendly about it. They said that they're pretty behind and that we might get our awards in two to three weeks.

This is unusual. Our letters said we'd have had it in a week. Two to three weeks would be after the deadline for us to pay our the deposit to secure our place!

I think having financial aid information early is an important part in determining whether to spend so much money on a non refundable deposit.

Hey guys, I just accepted my offer and put down my deposit!!!!!! Wooooo!!!!!

I am going to do campus housing. Hopefully I can get into Gramercy Green, it's only a few blocks from the new nursing school. Is anyone else for sure doing NYU housing? Let me know!!! Can't wait to meet you all :)

Did anyone go to the Admitted Students Welcome Night today? In on the west coast so I couldn't attend, but I did get a call from the University to see if I had any questions I wanted to ask.

If anyone went, please let us know how it went!

Thanks ;)

Officially accepted my enrollment!!! Can not wait to start!

Congrats danrutgers!

I starting really thinking out the tuition and calculating how much is would cost to pay off. If I were to take out 90k in loans it would cost over 20 years around 175k with interest. I am thinking about declining the offer and waiting 6 months to try to go to rutgers. In state tuition is 32k. I think spending so much money would be irresponsible for me :((((( I wish i didnt have to

Learning4nursing, I hear you. This is a very fundamental decision you (we) are making. Given the option you have of a 32K school, go for it. That obviously is a no-brainer. I'm from the camp that we shouldn't spend excessively on a nursing degree, especially so if there is also undergrad debt that you're carrying. But, if you value being at NYU for more than just having a nursing degree - say, if it aligns more closely with what you envision yourself doing years after, then perhaps it will be worth it. Others have had a great experience there and found jobs easily afterwards, others are struggling with their loans from studying at the University and regret having that debt. Only you can truly answer.

Meanwhile, I just received the financial aid award notice from NYU. As I sort of expected, the University aid isn't very much. I've gotten a College of Nursing Scholarship for $3750 per semester - which is $15,000 for all four semesters. That's good, I suppose. But barely a dent in the 94,000+ tuition, plus housing.

Hello everyone, I was just accepted into the accelerated spring cohort yesterday. Echoing what others have said, I don't know if I can justify the costs of this program. It would mean for me taking out massive student loans to cover both tuition and cost of living. I love the idea of NYU, and the city itself. For anyone else in this predicament, are you considering not accepting admission while not knowing results of your other school applications? I am thinking about dropping the $500 just to secure my spot, and compare the offers from other schools if and when they come in. I'm super excited, and incredibly overwhelmed at the same time. So happy for everyone who was accepted, and best wishes to the rest still waiting.

Mark
