Yes this is what I'm worried about too. And from my understanding for NYU Langone specifically - they are giving rolling job offers correct? So it's possible all the spots in a desired unit could be taken by the time we are eligible to get a job offer. I read we can only apply to one listing - meaning if you applied for fall you cannot apply for Spring. In this case would it be better to wait until we have everything ready to go and then apply for the next cycle?

Yeah, I know people have already accepted offers. I'm not sure if there is an advantage being in-state?

I'm sure there is! In terms of turn around time for licensing and how quick they can onboard you etc

I am losing hope for NYU. I applied to Lenox Hill as well but I am thinking I won't get a job offer until my license and will just have to reapply everywhere after I get it. NYP doesn't seem to have their residency app out right now so that could be an option after we get our license as well.

LOL I am losing hope for all of them at this point after still hearing nothing. I applied directly to a position at NYP but was rejected. I'm not sure their residency application process either?

I thought for NYP there's no specific app, we could just apply to any RN position that doesn't say experience is required? And then automatically we would get placed into the residency program. But I'm not sure in my state it's much more straightforward than how NY does it haha

I think you need your license to apply to NYP but I could be mistaken. I think they just throw out all apps until then

Yes, I believe that is correct!

But do you have to wait until you get your license to apply?

The applications say you need a "NY state license or willingness to obtain" so I assume you can still apply if you are in the process of obtaining it

If already tried for NYP and got rejected, I would apply again once you have your license and see if that changes the outcome. No harm in trying!

What position did you apply for that was rejected ?

Honestly, I feel like many hospitals run that way. like if there is no specific residency application then just apply to any regular listing of a unit and then they'll find out you're a new grad and place you into the residency automatically! It doesn't hurt to try!

I def think there is an advantage of being in state or being an internal applicant/someone who studied in NYC. LIke I am from NJ and they straight up said to reach out after I am done graduating.. but tbh I am losing patience with it and don't want to lose any other potential offers that I may get. So currently I have also applied to jobs in NJ and also applied to get my NJ nursing license first  because I have heard from other nurses that new york can take months to get around to licenses for people
