Members are discussing the hiring process at NYU Langone, sharing experiences with phone screens, interviews, and references. Some express frustration with the website, while others offer advice on navigating the application process and timelines for hiring. Questions about salary offers for new grads and comparisons between hospitals are also brought up.
Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?

I can't reply to your message as i don't have enough posts so I will just replay here.
Yes my interview was a panel interview (as were the majority of interviews that I've heard from others in my group). The interview will most likely consist of the Nurse Manager, a Nurse (usually the charge nurse) and a PCT (patient care technician). So not only do you need to impress the manager, but impress the other two as well. Because the manager will ask them what they thought of you.
Questions ranged from very basic to situational:
Tell me about yourself? Why did you choose/decide on nursing?
Did you have clinical here? Why this hospital? What did you like about this hospital?
How do you handle conflict? How do you think you will fit on a very busy unit?
Clinical strengths?
One major question that was asked of me, "What attribute or characteristic can you bring to this unit that I don't already have?
After i received a tour i was asked: "What did you like about this unit?
Advice:
I recommend possibly speaking about an experience from a clinical and how that contributed to how you go about patient care. Or something you learned about yourself from a clinical experience. Or how you affected a patient.
Be calm. Breathe!!! Be yourself. Don't rush your answers. Be CONFIDENT. Be honest. Speak up.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. (I always go into interview with a couple questions that i might want to ask on the interview.)

I hope you received it. I appreciate your reply and support! :-)
@NS81
The interview last maybe ~35mins or so. (Granted there were plenty of disruptions.) Um it was mostly the Nurse Manager asking questions, but the other two did ask one or two questions. The only one that was writing or taking notes was the nurse manager... she wrote a few things on my resume. Mostly they were paying attention to me and burning a hole through my head. Be sure to make eye contact with them.
Hello all! I'm a new grad and new to the forum. I just received the email about taking the nursing career battery assessment. I know that the exam is timed but is there also a set number of questions? Or is it like the NCLEX where the number of questions varies depending on the answers? BTW, congrats to those that passed!
@NS81, haven't heard anything back since they asked for my availability... they got me all excited/nervous thinking things were going to be happening really quickly! From what I've heard, no one else from the info session I went to has gotten scheduled for that second interview yet, so I guess things are just moving along a little slower than initially anticipated. Any exciting news on your end?

Hi sc128! The career battery assessment did have a set number of questions (I've forgotten how many, but I don't think you'll run out of time) but I don't think it works like the NCLEX exam does where your next question is determined by how you answered the previous one, etc. Here are some links to previous threads that discuss more about the assessment and what it entails, hope it helps! Good luck with everything!

Thank you @DWinNY! I'm planning on taking the exam tonight so hopefully I will pass and hear back from the recruiter.
Hi sc128! I agree with DWinNY. The test is more behavioral questions. How you handle certain situations i.e you don't get along with a coworker how do you handle that situation etc... It's not set up like the NCLEX. I took it for NYU and NYP and it's formatted the same way. Good luck! :)
