NYU Fall 2014 ABSN

Published

Hello,

I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.

What part of the application process are you in?

How is the personal statement going?

How many pre-reqs do you have left?

I bet there is a lot of transcripts to go through. I wouldn't worry until after the final deadline of April 1st. Theres gotta be 500 applicants...at least.

do you guys know how many clinical hours we get by the time we graduate the program?

I did a random search, and found that a lot of ABSN programs have anywhere from 1100-1400 hours. I am not sure about NYU though. Wow, this is the longest time I have had to wait for an admission decision...I sent my app in on Sept 19, 2013! April is just around the corner =)

Best wishes to all of you!! I decided to not apply since i was accepted to my number one choice. Hope all of you hear good news!

really? are you sure it's that much? that seems ridiculously high :/ i know at USD, which is an MSN program, it's 1050 hrs, and GWU, which is a BSN, is only 700 hrs. are you sure it's 1100 - 1400 hrs? that seems super duper high! maybe you would get that many hours in a traditional 4-year BSN program? is that also the case for an ABSN program that is roughly 1/4 the length of time?

Hi there! I just found this board. I also applied to the program before the March 1 priority deadline, but my albert account says regular decision. I think they have everyone's like that. I still have to get my letter of recommendation in (was planning before April 1), but I'm wondering if it will even matter if they are sending out decisions first week of April! Did anyone not send in a letter? The website is very conflicting and it seems strange that there is no format for the letter.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! Only a couple more weeks :)

LOR's are not required, just recommended. Ags: That is what I found when I googled it, try looking it up and see what you come up with. Maybe 700 is a baseline? I know during the paramedic and EMT program, we had a set amount, but we were allowed to complete as many extra hours as we wanted.. I think it also depends on the school.

Hey! i FINALLY got an email back from admissions and they said that we accumulate 500 clinical hours through the program (350 through clinical on-site, and 150 in the simulation lab)

I had 2 letters of recommendation sent in. One was from an MD I shadowed and it was on the shorter side because he is very busy. The letter my current employer sent in, I'm not sure how long it is as he hasn't provided with a copy of the recommendation but I definitely think it can make your application stronger.

They FINALLY checked off all my transcripts! I've been checking the status of my application like a mad woman! Hopefully they send out admissions decisions soon.

Just to clarify, admission decisions won't show up on Albert correct? They are only sent out by email?

Yea, i heard that they won't show up on Albert, and will be sent by email - can anyone else verify?
