NYU Fall 2014 ABSN

Published

Hello,

I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.

What part of the application process are you in?

How is the personal statement going?

How many pre-reqs do you have left?

I went to an information session, and we were told that we would be notified via email.

Hi Everyone!

I just came across this board, and I am so glad I did. It's March 30th, which means T-minus 2 days until the website states decision notifications will go out! I read through last year's Fall '13 ABSN forum, and it looks like it was seriously a mixed bag in terms of when people were notified (I think I read that the first notifications happened sometime between April 7-9). Hopefully we will have word this week, since I am sure most (read: all) of us are anxious to find out!

Just to let everyone know, and I am not sure if anyone else has had this happen, but NYU managed to misplace my transcripts. I had everything mailed mid-February to ensure I made the March 1 deadline, and I got an e-mail this past week that several things were missing. In addition to this, I had called the office of admissions twice to confirm over the phone that my materials were received when I first sent them out. The person on the other end of the line said they were extremely busy and to refer to my Albert account. The Albert account had everything checked off, as if it was received, since March 5. So you can imagine what I must have felt like to get an e-mail that transcripts, no less, were still missing. I had to have them expedited last minute, but thankfully, they got there. I guess these things happen.

Good luck to us all this week! I really hope they don't keep us waiting for much longer!

I just realized, I forgot to post something really important: Does anyone know if we are obligated to fill out the FAFSA?

I went to one of the information sessions, and I could swear that I heard one of the directors say, "EVERYONE HAS TO FILL OUT THE FAFSA BY APRIL 1."

I am pretty positive I won't get any federal aid, regardless if I fill out the form or not, so I wasn't going to bother. And the NYU website says that the deadline is April 1 for those who want to be considered for federal aid, making it sound like it's not obligatory.

Yea, if you want/need aid you have to fill it out by the deadline...

I just got the "You are not authorized to view this page" when I clicked on Application Status on Albert. Bad news? :(

That happens to me once in a while. I think it's a glitch.

@green_eyes thank you for posting about the FAFSA! i had absolutely no idea until i saw your post! and filled it out last night

Hey I applied to the Second Bachelor's Non-Accelerated Program on the 25th of March. I sent all of my required documents in the same day. I have been checking my page, almost everyday, and still my college/high school transcript have not been checked yet. I am so nervous I just hope that everything goes well.

Ahh we should start getting decisions soon

I've been checking a ton too. They've had my college transcripts checked off for a few weeks now, but still nothing with my HS ones. I sent everything in a few weeks ago so I'm sure they have everything. Hoping for the best!!

HS transcripts aren't required. I just realized that admission decisions come out on April fools day, so if we recieve a rejection letter we can hope that an "April Fools!" email will follow. =)

does anyone know the time frame for people who submitted by April 1st? I've read previously that we hear in waves. Just wondering since I submitted this morning I probably won't here until May?
