Hello,
I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.
What part of the application process are you in?
How is the personal statement going?
How many pre-reqs do you have left?
Agsetlur: I looked into several MEPN programs, but I don't have any info on USD's. My aunt is a CRNA and she spoke with several other nurses in her dept. and they all said not to go the MEPN route, because when it comes time to get a job, it will be very difficult. Most people will want to know why you skipped the BSN portion, and they will most likely hire someone who has earned their BSN first (or ABSN). This is what I have heard, and it may not be true for all...
Hi All,
I submitted my application on 3/5 (I realize that is after the priority deadline).
What is the earliest date decisions are released? April 2nd? I know April 1st is the last deadline, but I'm wondering if NYU waits until they have all of their applications before making decisions.
Ah well, either way we're going to have to anxiously wait over the next couple of weeks....

yea, anyone else know when early decisions come out? i'm suuuuuper anxious >.
I just read through the entire thread for Fall 2013 cohort... The first admissions decision was released on April 9th, and some didn't hear until May 29th! There was no rhyme or reason to it. However I did see this posted:

heyyyy,
I also asked them the question and the person told me that during the the priority deadline, they are allowed to accept as many as they want, meaning they can fill all the seats. for the second deadline, they can only fill the seats that are left. There is a huge difference, they just don't say it.
Also, there are specific days that they release admission/rejection notices and they all come by email. They seemed to have followed the M/W 8-9:30am pattern...
Good luck to all!

Planemo: you know, you're not the only one who has said this! other nurses i have spoken to have also said that i should not skip BSN, and should not go into the MSN track directly! makes me worried, since my parents are pushing me into MSN and don't know who I should be listening to! makes me want to get into NYU even more and am getting so much more antsy to hear back!!! yikes >.

Morganw1- At the information session I attended, we were told that priority or regular makes no difference to them. Apparently, you might just hear back a little later if you submit April 1 rather than March 1. But no, they said they do not look down on later submissions.
