I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.
Do any of you know if NYU will allow you to defer? I found some info on the NYU website that talks about freshman deferring, but nothing for second degree nursing students.
@planemo they don't, it said explicitly in the letter they sent me that if you choose not to go you cannot defer to the following semester or year - I would guess you just reapply.
np.. though I (think) the spring semester receives less applicants than the fall so if you get in for the fall and want to re-apply for the spring you may have a very good chance.. don't quote me on that though!
I will be informing NYU shortly that I won't be attending as I have chosen another school, so that hoepfully should open up a spot for someone waiting!

is that for admitted students also? I understand some schools want an applicant to wait a year or so if they were declined - to work on boosting up their application but if an applicant is accepted for the Fall but cannot go for whatever reason, you would think they would be able to apply for Spring. Otherwise it seems like the school is penalizing an accepted applicant.
I just want to say thank you for everyone's comments in this forum. This is my first post but I have been reading and following this forum for sometime. Everyone's input has been very helpful in my own experience in the whole application journey. I still haven't heard from NYU. I called them about three weeks ago and a lady mentioned that I have 6-8 weeks from the day I got an application completion confirmation from NYU. She mentioned to give them sometime to review my application and that NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS. That gave me a little sense of relief that I haven't heard from them. Anyways, she also mentioned to wait until after the 8th week mark if I still haven't heard from them I should call them again. This weekend will make the 8th week after my submission. I hope I can hear good news I'm getting really anxious since this is the only school I applied to. Anyways, thanks again everyone!
Congratulations to everyone that was accepted! Applied by the March 1 "priority" deadline and still waiting for any word back, too. I have already been accepted to two other programs (put down a deposit at one and declined the other) and wait-listed at another but I am leaving all my options open! :-)
congrats tlac! =) I haven't heard anything yet...@aestela, I never received an actual confirmation that my application was complete. I just see that all my stuff has been checked off on Albert. Were we supposed to receive one? Has anyone else applied with prereq's still incomplete? Like I applied for the Fall, but if I get accepted I still have to take Micro in the Fall... They said if you have prereqs that are incomplete, then you apply as a non-accelerated student, but you still use the second degree application...
I'm getting really anxious since this is the only school I applied to. Anyways, thanks again everyone!
