Hi guys! Thought I'd make a forum for NYU's ABSN Program for fall 2020.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Paige. Currently in California. I received my BA in psych from a private university with a GPA below 3.0. Took pre-reqs in multiple community college while working. Ended up with the same GPA as undergrad ?
Here's my stats:
Anatomy: C (planning to retake in spring 2020)
Physio: A-
Microbio: C+ (planning to retake in spring 2020)
Chem for health sciences: C+
Nutrition: A
Stats: C
Lifespan dev: B
Volunteer experience at Stanford University. Do you think I have chance with NYU? I feel like my only hope in getting in are the letter of recs + personal essay.
Feel free to comment whatever is on your mind. What are your stats? Where are you from and what other schools will you be applying at? Help a sistah out!

Ooh OK! I just logged in and it has nothing not even a link to go to the application status! Thank you so much for the help!

Please don’t take it wrong or think I’m raining on your parade but this is very discouraging to me. I graduated Summa Cum Laude, completed all of my prerequisites, submitted two letters of recommendation, they got my official transcripts and submitted before 3/1 and still haven’t heard a thing. I don’t understand what is the process. This is torturous.
To be completely honest with you, I have been asking myself wth their process is, as well. I do have more experience in health care from being an EMT and AHA cert, working with nurses closely, etc. The only other thing that I can think of is my essay must have really gotten to them. It was very personal and risky. I am also not going directly into the program for Fall 2020 so that may have something to do with my chances.
I do hope that you get in, though. You have great stats and the cycle is not over yet!

I have been lurking for a while and I first want to say congratulations to everyone who has received an acceptance. I also want to say good luck and do not give up hope if you have not received an acceptance today.
I got my acceptance letter today at 4:05 pm. I am a NY resident (born and raised baby). My application was completed on 2/28/20. I had my transcripts mailed before COVID nation attacked. I received a B.S. in health science w/ a psych minor in 2019. Graduated magna cum laude. I applied as a transfer completing prereqs. I still have to complete nutrition and Microbiology. I will join the official program in Spring 2021. The prereqs that I do have are A's with one B. My personal statement was decent, imo. I actually took a risk and did not apply with any letters of recommendation. I have been working in healthcare for about 2 years now with the majority of that experience in the operating room.
My checklist did NOT disappear. I checked the portal last night and everything was still there (update prereqs, etc.).
I hope this was helpful. I am open to any questions you may have. Did anyone who got accepted so far apply for financial aid and receive anything?
Hi! First of all congratulations on getting accepted. Did you change your application type from accelerated to non-accelerated after submission? I got an email saying that my Nutrition course didn't meet their requirements and didn't cover vitamins, proteins, and nutrients but I emailed them back with a course syllabus to show that it did cover it. Haven't gotten a response yet. Anyways, they gave me the option to switch to the non-accelerated track and I'm considering it but taking an extra semester + paying ~$6k for one class when I can easily take it at a CC feels wasteful ? but at the same time I don't want to risk my chances of getting in just because of this one class either. Does anyone know what happens if we do get accepted for the non-accelerated track, but end up being able to finish all prereqs over the Summer through other schools?

I applied to the non-accelerated. I am going to try and take nutrition at a CC over the Summer. However, my acceptance letter says that I have to get permission from NYU first since I have been accepted based on the courses I have already completed. I assume that if you already have a course in progress before acceptance, then you should be fine. I hope that helps.

I am curious, too. When were you accepted? I saw that it could take up to 7 days to receive financial aid info after acceptance.
Hi,
I hope all is well with everyone. I applied in September and actually only heard back today! I got accepted, so please don't be discouraged about the wait. It really is a waiting game.
For those who are going to ask:
AP1: C
AP2: A-
Nutrition: A
Chem: B-
Chem Lab: B+
Statistics: B-
Microbiology: in progress... A
Lifespan Development: A
Undergraduate GPA: 3.4
As far as history, I did an overseas mission 2 years ago in Fiji for 2 months, where I focused a lot on Public Health and Health Education, I volunteer at my local hospital and I've been an EMT-B for about a year now. I have experience as a nutritional/holistic coach, and I graduated with a Community Health Degree from a school in New York in December of 2019. I had 3 recommendation letters: 1. ER Nurse (I shadowed), 2. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Director (Where I work), 3. EMT-B (Instructor). My essay focused on how I became the person I am now, not what I've done and I think that is important. They want to know WHO YOU ARE and WHY YOU BECAME WHO YOU ARE and WHY THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO BE A NURSE.
It is important to remember that it is on God's time!! Do not feel discouraged. Don't beat yourself up. Remember Godspeed for everyone and we will all be nurses one day. I got rejected from Stony Brook, and Downstate. We all have such beautiful stories, so embrace the journey and believe in yourself and what the universe has in store for you. I'm wishing you all the best and again, Godspeed!

Thank you for the encouragement!
Hello, all. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. I'm curious to know if anyone in this cohort has received a rejection, or know of someone who has. I would hate to wait 2+ months just to hear "I'm sorry but we cannot offer you admission at this time".
Any thoughts, words, comments?
