Nyu Accelerated BSN spring 2014

Published

Hello everyone! I made this thread in order to find everyone is also also planning on applying NYU accelerated nursing program. The application for the spring opens on October 1st and I am so excited! :)

eoduca,

It's going as well as can be expected lol. I'm very anxious because my overall GPA isn't so impressive as I completed my undergraduate B.S. in psychology 2 years ago. I'm also still in the process of taking two pre reqs at a local community college. how about yourself?

Just like you, I'm the same. I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences- Medical Biology which I finished last December and attended the ceremony past June. I finished my pre reqs over the summer. We all have our stories and I wish I can explain all of it in my personal statement but only addressed the questions that needs to be answered by using 2-3 examples from my life story. There's a diverse amount of people with different backgrounds like you and I. At this point, it's all in the admissions hand now.

@realdream yeah I've noticed this thread gets little attention, especially compared to other semesters/threads..Thanks for letting us know they will start acceptances around nov 15..Im in the same boat with other school offers. They are on top of things and asking for deposits/background checks/classes/etc and the fees are adding up so quick (while Im eagerly waiting for NYU)/. Nyu is my dream school and I would love to be a part of the city.

I hope we all hear some good news!! Good luck to all!!! Does anyone have prereqs left. I have not taken develop. psych and nutrition yet (easiest of the bunch)

I don't think it's too big of a problem that not many people are on this thread as expected. Maybe a lot of applicants simply just don't know about it. Who knows, we might see more as soon deadline has passed. But hey, congrats to you if you got your acceptances from other programs!

I have all prereqs done with 4.0 gpa, carry EMT license, have foreign master's degree in English education transferred to us with 3.6 gpa & good personal statement but I lack reference letters, only sent one & not strong... with NYU it's hard to know, sometimes seems they accepted more people with lower gpas...

Eoduca,

Yes your right about that its all up to admissions. I felt the same regarding the personal statement I wanted to go more in depth but didn't want to get carried away at the same time. However, I do believe my personal statement was strong and hopefully my letter of rec was as well. NYU is definitely my first choice how about you ?

realdream,

You have great stats! I'm sure it will all work out. good luck & hopefully we find out within the next few weeks. It feels like forever but hopefully its worth the wait with some good news

NYU is definitely my choice. It is a great school with an incomparable "city-setting". it makes me feel closer to home (since I'm from southern california) while I experience the diverse population. In addition, I strongly believe that I will receive the top of the line education and training from the faculty.

Like previous threads, each of them said they accept well-rounded students. So I guess that can justify the "lower gpas"? I have to admit, you have impressive educational stats. How do you know that you have a not so strong letter of recommendation? I never seen what my recommenders wrote about me because they sent it directly to the admissions office. You are very fortunate to see what your recommender wrote! Other than that, I would try to not worry. I'm sure they will highly consider you since you advanced your education to a master's level!

eoduca,

I feel exactly the same way. Hopefully we both are accepted! Looks like we will be finding out soon.

Hello,

I am reapplying to NYU's nursing program.

I didn't get into last year's traditional program and I am reapplying for the 15-months accelerated one. Hopefully I can get in this time!

No I didn't see, but my main academic & dr recommenders wrote for nursingcas & I cdnt get in touch with them again to repeat for NYU so I end up getting some simple reference from work..

I see. That makes total sense! I thought you got a chance to see it! Don't worry, I'm sure that this factor is not going to determine your status. You have accomplished a lot!

Ahh November 15? That's so awful, I already got my hopes up for the first week of November!
