Hello everyone! I made this thread in order to find everyone is also also planning on applying NYU accelerated nursing program. The application for the spring opens on October 1st and I am so excited! :)
Ok now another question which building ( what exact address) is nursing/science building is located at? Are the lectures & simulation labs going to be at the same location, it is strange but I still haven't visited the actual location for NYU.. just info session which I doubt it where the lectures will be held... Can anybody please tell so I know where to commute...
Hi realdream - classes are all over. Look for Union Square and Washington Square Park on a map and that is the campus footprint. But once the nursing school moves I think it is close to 30th and 1st ave. And there is really no dream commute. It is all a bunch of trade-offs in NYC real estate. The east side of Manhattan is going to be easier than the west side in general. Use google maps with cross streets or an address to determine your commute. And then add 5 extra minutes because it is usually a little off.

Thank you! Very helpful! I'm sure once we register, it will say which campus the lecture or lab is at for each class so I shd stop worrying;) I still haven't got anything more than just acceptance email so waiting patiently lol...
@ChristinaPetroni, thanks! yeah i have been in contact several times throughout the last couple of weeks and they are still reviewing it. the wait is very stressful, but mostly because i only applied to NYU and other deadlines are approaching and i dont know what to do.
Bcbischo,
I suggest complete applications to other program interested in. That way you don't miss the priority deadline or official deadline for these programs. That way you more choices.
Guess no one got acceptances today? Darn! Have an amazing Thanksgiving with family and friends everyone! Hopefully for those still waiting, we get acceptances after Thanksgiving break!
To bcbischo, apply as much as possible! It's wonderful to have a dream school but back-ups are just as important. I applied to only two schools LAST YEAR and didn't get into either of them. So, I had to wait an entire year to start applying again. I've already been rejected to about 5+ schools and accepted to 1 - which I declined. Keep persevering!!
Well I was going to apply to Johns Hopkins, but my logic is that if I can't get into NYU, JH won't accept me either. Plus, their deadline is this coming Sunday and it would just be cutting it short. I really wish that applications were all due around the same time. :/ I
Every school is different in how they select students. I did get to the interview portion for BS-MSN program at John's Hopkins nursing school last year. This link to FB page. Send me message there. Maybe I can help with the JH application if you still going to apply. JH also has Accelerated BS to MSN with paid clinical residency regular decision deadline is January 15. UNC chapel hill Summer entry (non-accelerated -6 semesters includes summer semesters) is due December 22 and don't need recommendations for this school.
I just got my acceptance email today! I won't be starting the accelerated program until fall 2013 as I have to finish 4 of the pre req classes in the spring. I'm really happy I have the opportunity to take these pre req classes at NYU as they are from a health care perspective.
It does seem like decisions happen on Tuesdays but maybe it's a coincidence? I live on the lower east side in manhattan and have for a little over a year (I'm a transplant from Indiana)- if anyone has any questions about the city or moving here I am happy to help!
bobbl I am applying to the Fall 2014 cohort as well. I just graduated from a Psychology undergraduate program and am just about done with the pre-reqs as well. I attended the info session about a month or so ago and it was really informative. If you go on the NYU website under the ABSN program you should be able to read all of the requirements and what not.
I think I want to wait to apply to other schools because I have so many prereqs in progress right now. My absolute dream school is actually University of Washington, Seattle, but I won't be able to apply to it until next fall and won't be able to start until summer 2015, which is when I would be graduating from NYU if I get in. I don't think it's worth the wait, and NYU would be amazing as well. The problem that I am having right now for many schools is not having the prereqs done(or not enough of them done like in the case if UW). It sucks but I am ok with waiting to apply. Luckily many schools have two application periods :) although I still haven't heard from NYU, I'm hopeful, as should all of you that are still waiting should be!

yep, some parts of harlem have gotten nicer and safer over the years, especially east harlem, which is currently experiencing gentrification. the rents in that area are still pretty high.. probably 1700/month for a 1-bed. i took classes at city college (located in harlem) in the past, and i've never felt unsafe. as with any part of the city, you need to be street-smart, anyway
