hey! I figured I will start this thread! Who applied and now waiting anxiously?? :)
I have great experience with okay grades. I am sure I'll get waitlisted and will probably still not get in. What where your grades like?
My undergrad GPA was a 3.3 and have a 4.0 in prereqs so far. I worked really hard on my essays (they were such a pain -- the main essay and two of the short answers on the supplement were so similar).
Don't psych yourself out. Grades aren't everything. They are looking at your application holistically (essays and letters of recommendation are not to be overlooked) and if you were able to paint a good picture of who you are and why you want to enter the nursing profession, you will be fine.
BellaNoor,
I was very close to choosing Miami coz the beaches and the town were really enticing.. plus its half the cost of NYU.. but like you, I've been fantasizing about NYU for some time now and as a West Coast native, I'm really excited about NY. I'm choosing NYU.
MissTessSF,
I'm from Daly City... I'm thinking ill be applying for the residence halls since I don't have the time to visit NY and hunt for apartments... Any luck on your search?
To Faces04: I applied on the 11/1 deadline too and I still have not heard from anyone!! going crazy here.
To mauve whistle: which number did you call? I sent all of my credentials so I don't know if they have even looked at my credentials. I have worked as a surgical technologist for 5 years so hopefully that helps.
I also heard about looking for a place in Astoria and I might look there once I hear from NYU!! Im excited and cant wait to hear so that I can make plans accordingly

I called (212) 998-4500 which is the office of undergraduate admissions. Another way to semi-know that they have all their your materials is if you check on Albert and if you see that they downloaded your application from CommonApp.
I'm from NY and I can say that Astoria is a great place to live. You can find some great deals and the area is burgeoning. Sunnyside as someone mentioned is also a place worth considering. It's not as filled with young professionals (although I've seen it change a lot over the last 5 years) as Astoria, but you'll get decent housing.
thankyou so much for the response, all the questions i have for you are still premature because i have yet to receive an acceptance but generally wise how big is the admitting class and how are exams administered?
My cohort is of about 300 students and it's a mix of traditional and accelerated students. The only class you will take with all 300 of them is pathophysiology. The others are halved in two sections and then the labs and clinicals are in a group of 12 (lab) and 6 students for hospital clinicals. We have standard multiple choice exam for the lectures and then individual practicum exam for the lab and clinical skills. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info!! I will call first thing Monday and see what the status of my application is. :)

I was also thinking about living on campus but I worry about living with an undergrad. Do you know how we look into that? I have been looking on Craigslist and there seem to be some reasonable rooms for rent but I'm thinking the best way is to go early and land a place in person. I've heard that rooms go quick on craigslist so it's best to be there as soon possible with money in hand.

Oh and I forgot to mention - I worked in a nursing administration office and currently work in an emergency room so i think my experience helped my app as well.
