NYU ABSN Spring 2021

Published

Hi all. I'm starting a forum for NYU Spring 2021. I know the application goes live soon so might as well make one now.

I applied for Fall 2020 but didn't get in so I'm applying for the second time. Good luck to us all!

@autumn78 I’m thinking of considering U Rochester - the program is only 12 months (shorter than NYU’s) and about 40,000$ less but of course I’m still waiting to see if I got into NYU !

Just so ya know, my sister is currently in a 12 month ABSN program and she said she wishes it were at least a couple months longer. She's getting another BS so she can be a nurse administrator of a pathology lab, so she doesn't necessarily need all the skills. However, she told me that if she were wanting to be an RN in a clinical setting it would be very hard to retain all the information and put it into practice since the whole program is essentially cramming for tests all the time. Just food for thought! I know 15 months isn't a HUGE difference but it is something haha

Yes you can be an RN without a BSN, but just know that as long as you’re holding an associates degree you can pretty much only work in nursing homes - and get paid much less.

This may be true in New York City but from working in the hospital for the past five years as a CNA there are about 20 to 40 nurses that I know that only have their RN but are working to get their BSN.

I live in Phoenix Arizona so I’m sure it’s different to a certain degree. And the pay isn't different either. If you are a brand new RN in a hospital you get paid as much as a brand new RN with a BSN.

I will say it’s probably easier to get a job with the BSN. I see it 50/50 of the time it works out.

Does anyone know where our clinical will be?

Hey guys I got into the second degree program last Friday (Nov 13). I applied on the early decision date (sept I believe)

This is so weird.. I called admissions asking when I should expect a letter and I was told they'll be starting rolling admission in December. Did anyone else apply during priority and not hear anything back as yet?

I applied by the priority deadline and have yet to hear back anything . So what does this mean moving forward ?

I applied during priority - some of my transcripts didn’t get there though till after the priority deadline so I’m not sure if that makes a difference but I have not heard anything back as of yet either

What do they mean by rolling admissions?

I applied the day before the final deadline, should I be worried? ?

Yea my transcripts were sent out late as well so I assumed thats why I haven't heard anything as yet. Lets hope we don't have to wait till December

LOL your username is my exact feeling everyday. I applied the final day. For some reason I thought they would keep sending out letters every Friday

I think rolling admissions is for the spots thats left over im guessing. But I only know of rolling admissions being when you apply late so I don't know if who I spoke to really understood me because I told her I applied during the priority stage

I was always under the impressions rolling admissions were for schools that didn’t have a deadline per se and they admit/reject students as they apply
