NYU ABSN Spring 2021

Published

Hi all. I'm starting a forum for NYU Spring 2021. I know the application goes live soon so might as well make one now.

I applied for Fall 2020 but didn't get in so I'm applying for the second time. Good luck to us all!

This is a BSN program, you said RN. This makes me question why all of a sudden you are starting to throw a wrench in everyone's plans. This topic was opened since July.

What are talking about.... a BSN program gets you an RN. I go to NYU and I want to help. AND in July I was taking 18 credits because of covid  I didn't have time to go on this board. Im talking about GPA because alot of people at NYU take it very seriously because of NYU lagone mainly hiring new grads with a 3.5 or above GPA and that NYU the school has mad competitive kids.

Thanks for the info. Any idea on job outlook at this point, now that you're graduating soon? Also outlook to land a job at an NYU hospital?

I work at a hospital already so I have a job secured from that. IF YOU CAN WORK DURING SCHOOL (WHICH IS TOUGH) DO SO IT GETS YOU AN IN!!. TRY TO GET A PER DIEM JOB. I also got a job at NYU in the works but thats just due to me being a good networker and also having a decent amount of experience in that UNIT from working in that unit in my hospital. message me if you want anymore help

... A BSN is what you need to become an RN... ?

I understand but there are RN programs that do not grant a bachelors in nursing.

Associates programs grant an RN not a BSN. You can be a nurse without a BSN

Just FYI

Hey guys I'm looking at housing right now and would love any help or advice! I'm not 100% sold on the on-campus housing options. It looks like we'd be mixed with the other undergrad 1st or 2nd year students (not super keen on dorming with 18 year olds haha) and most of the dorms are quite a walk to school. SO I'm looking at off-campus apartments that are closer to the hospital and nursing campus. If anyone is looking for a roommate or have any recommendations for on or off-campus housing please please let me know !

You need to pass the NCLEX-RN exam to be an RN. You need an ADN or BSN to sit for the NCLEX

Yes you can be an RN without a BSN, but just know that as long as you’re holding an associates degree you can pretty much only work in nursing homes - and get paid much less.

Right, but what I said initially was you need a BSN, or an ADN, to become an RN, not the other way around.

@autumn78 I’m thinking of considering U Rochester - the program is only 12 months (shorter than NYU’s) and about 40,000$ less but of course I’m still waiting to see if I got into NYU !
