NYU ABSN Spring 2021

Hi all. I'm starting a forum for NYU Spring 2021. I know the application goes live soon so might as well make one now.

I applied for Fall 2020 but didn't get in so I'm applying for the second time. Good luck to us all!

I submitted my application on September 4th, but submitted 1 letter of recommendation and some missing transcripts on October 9th. As far as my stats/prerequisite grades, they are as follows:

Undergrad GPA: 3.475 (Nutrition and Exercise Sciences)

Resume included: Yes (no healthcare experience)

Letter of Recommendation: 1 (from a colleague who works at NYU as a coach)

Chemistry: A+

Chemistry Lab: A-

Microbiology: In Progress

Statistics: B

A&P 1: A

A& P 2: B+

Nutrition: A-

Developmental Psychology: A

I'd like to mention that my GPA of 3.475 was from the college I graduated from. I attended a few other colleges prior to receiving my undergrad degree and my cumulative GPA would be around 3.05.

I hope we get accepted !!! I have a 3.55 GPA but I had to retake anatomy, and stats, and also I didn’t have much to put on my resume regarding volunteer work. This waiting game is a lot and I feel So defeated every Friday after not getting accepted :’(

Honestly me too. NYU is like a 30 min train ride from my apartment. I also used to take Chem and A&P 1 and 2 lab at Hunter Brookdale during undergrad, and the nursing school is right across the street. It's where I want to be. 

My grades and experiences were "good", but I blew the personal statement. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote it. I know that's what costed me this time around.

All we can do right now is hope for the best. I think we will all get our acceptances in due time. 

Haha yes! I went to Hunter for my undergrad also!

Don't beat yourself up about it. You have gotten this far and one good thing I have learned about NYU, spending many time reading through previous posts like these and contacting people I know who have successfully completed the program, they take a lot of things into consideration. U GOT DISSSS

Hello everyone! I got in! Email was received today at 2pm. 

I applied September 29 and sent my transcript October 5th.

Stats:

Undergrad GPA 3.12 (Biology degree)

Prerequisite 3.52

A&P 1: B

A&P2: B-

Chem: B+

Micro: A

Nutrition: A

Stats: A

Dev Psych: A

I only submitted 1 letter of recommendation from my professor, an essay, and I had 0 experience in the med field (but I was a front desk associate at a gym for a yr). I really think I had no chance at NYU.

I didn't accept the offer yet because I'm still waiting for Rutgers Newark. NYU is too expensive for me, but it's NYU so it makes sense.

Anyways, good luck to all of you waiting!

 I retook A&P 1 as well. Did not have much volunteer work as I have seen with others who have gotten accepted, but I submitted 4 recc letters that I personally think are very strong as well as my personal statement and a pre req GPA of 3.58... so now it really is all about the waiting game!

We have similar stats! Thank you for sharing! It gives me some hope during this moment of dispair.

Since my checklist is gone I'm not entirely sure, but going by my emails I got confirmation of my application submission on Sept 28. 

Undergrad GPA 3.3 (Sociology degree)

A&P 1: A

A&P2: A

Chem: A

Micro: A

Nutrition: In progress

Stats: B+ 

Dev Psych: In progress

I had two letters of recommendation, and have worked in health education/sexual health for the past 4 years.

Also @kris1998 I am also waiting on Rutgers Newark before I make a decision...and unfortunately NYU wants their decision within a week!

Guys PLEASE DO NOT GO TO NYU! YOU WILL REGRET IT! ALL NURSING SCHOOLS HAVE THEIR PROS AND CONS BUT NYU IS NOT WORTH IT!!

LOL please elaborate a bit more...I saw some of your posts earlier. Do you think this was just because of COVID and it was a learning curve for the program?

can you please say why. Im having a hard time deciding if I should go to NYU or Mount saint vincent being that CMSV is closer to home.
