I was recently admitted into the NYU Second Bachelor's in Nursing Program, but since I have not finished all the pre-requisites thus applied as a non-accelerated student, I won't start the curriculum until Spring 2019, so I've decided to start a thread for that cohort.
I also made an (early) Facebook group: Log into Facebook | Facebook
Does anyone know the acceptance rate for this program? How many people apply/are actually accepted?
Hey there - I couldn't find anything about ABSN; I am not sure they disseminate that information to the public, not for specific programs, at least.
I did find this (the link says NYU, but its Rory Meyers): New York University - Tuition and Acceptance Rate
It suggests the acceptance rate for Rory Meyers, in general, is 59%, which is quite good. There is a strong case for the waitlist as it looks as though the accepted enrollment rate may be at 65%, assuming that population isn't included in "accepted". I'll update if I ever cross something that is program specific.
Does anyone know how soon we would hear a reply from NYU if we hand in everything before the priority deadline?
There is no official word, and it seems to depend a bit on the way the month of October goes , and whether there are any extreme weather issues / disasters (in 2016 the snowstorms in Boston caused weeks of delays for the Boston schools!).
However, looking at previous years for the Spring cohort, the range for the first notifications was ~ October 25th to November 5th. Some people did not hear back until December, even with early submission.
I have a question...I'm finishing up nutrition and pathophysiology at Nassau Community College. Do you think they'll accept my patho class since it's a nursing course at NYU?
Is it a nursing Pathophys course and 3 credits? I know people in other programs who were allowed to transfer pathophys - not 100% on NYU. I imagine they will ask for the course description and your transcript and as long as it fits their requirements, its likely they will consider it.
Here is their pathophys:
NURSE-UN 1435, 3 Credits, (SpringFall)
45 hours: 3 credits. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of usual health patterns of major body systems to changes that occur during the illness experience. Major pathophysiologic concepts are explored using a body systems approach. Theories relating etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations are used to study common disease processes. Concepts from anatomy, physiology, and chemistry courses provide the foundation for exploring human dysfunction. Concepts learned in this course are basic to nursing practice.

The outline at NCC is very similar to the one at NYU but I know some schools require you to take it over
Hi Everyone, I submitted my application yesterday supper excited !!Ps. I also by mistake send in my LOR and transcripts through the common app. If any else did that. NYU told me today to resend the transcripts because they wont be downloading it from common app.
Congratulations! I look forward to hearing about your future success :) And geez - thats not quite fair is it; it costs money to send to CA. Well, good on you for checking in.
