Nursing Students School Programs

Soo......is anyone planning on applying to NYU for their Spring 2017 program....does anyone have any advise about NYU?

Hi all! I'm a little late to this thread, but just discovered it today haha. I also submitted my Spring 2017 ABSN application last week...wanted to do it before the priority deadline just in case. I can't believe we've got to wait two months to hear back :speechless: I'm already getting so anxious! Haha this is my first choice school so that could also be the reason why I'm so impatient.

Good luck to everyone who applied! It seems like everyone has submitted great applications. Hopefully we'll be able to call each other classmates in the future :D

I finally found the thread !! I applied in August to NYU asbn and I still haven't heard anything. I called and they told me they recieved my application and I wont be able to track it until October. The wait is killing me NYU is my 1st choice because I want to start in January..anyone else finishing up pre-reqs?

@nem90 thank you for that information. Its very helpful and encouraging. Thats the most part that I think every student worries about is having good professors and instructors. Thats great that you get weekends off and a day off during the week. Its ok if I'll have to study as long as I can stay at home and not commute lol I study best at home. NYU is great but just worried about how to finance it. :/

Yea the finances are nerve wracking since you don't get much financial aid from NYU or from federal loans as a second degree student. I took out private loans to cover whatever the federal loans wouldn't, the best I've found is Sallie Mae. And you can also look into applying for the Federal Nursing loan. You get around $3,000 a semester. There are some scholarships from NYU, but they're hard to get and they are based off of your nursing school GPA so the first semester will really be the hardest since you can't really apply for any scholarships :(

It's frustrating but it'll all be worth it in the end! :)

I know priority deadline was only a week ago, but I am wracking my brain trying to figure out what I am doing with my life come spring. I SO badly want to be accepted for this program. I don't know how I am going to make it another month (minimum) waiting!!!!!! I keep looking back on my application and feeling like maybe I could've done more? Also, I sent 2 LOR but feel like it might not be enough. I know that is what they asked for, but it's really intense.

Question: I already filled out my FASA for 2016-2017 with my other university. Do I just have to correct it by adding NYU to my list of schools? I want to make sure that I meet the financial aid deadline. To anyone who had a FASA already filled out and know what to do, please let me know :)

Hey @misshopeful28,

From what I remember when I had applied, I just added NYU to my list of schools and it was fine. You just need to edit your FAFSA application and add NYU to the list.

And I don't know if your first paragraph was a question, but in terms of the application they look at you holistically, meaning they look at 3 things equally, LOR, GPA, and your essay. They care about each of those things, so if you're not so confident in your LOR, and your GPA and personal statement are strong, this can help you. I'm pretty sure I only had two LOR but got in. It's about the quality of your application, not quantity - so don't worry! :) Good luck!

thanks for reminding me i have to apply for fasa..its been so long,i forgot about deadlines for the upcoming semester and who it works! Im anxious too...i applied to many schools so thats the only reason why I'm not losing it. I think if i only applied there..i would be really stressed!

Are we suppose to apply for fasfa?

I am finished with my degree and since the deadline for fasfa for spring is November 1...should we apply now not knowing if we are accepted? Not to be negative but what happens to fasfa if we get rejected?

Omg! I hate to even think of rejection. I really want to get through. I am so scared reading other forums and people with 4.0s are rejected. Good thing I heard was that spring is easier to get into as the fall semester has more ppl applying to it. I guess we won't here back until November sometime. The wait is killing me.

All the best.

Hello!

I would apply anyway! It doesn't hurt if you don't end up going to NYU specifically. It is good for 2017 as well. You don't want to run the risk of missing the deadline and not getting a package (even if you apply to other schools in 2017).

Hey @Laphy_b you should definitely apply because if you don't get in, I'm pretty sure the only thing that would happen would be that NYU won't accept the federal loans because you have no tuition bill there if you're not a student. Just add NYU and any other schools you're applying to to have your FAFSA information sent to them. Good luck!

The wait is literally killing me too haha I check my application status all the time even though I know I won't hear back until November

Hello everyone! Any update about application status? It has been radio silent on this forum! I am trying to fill out my CSS profile as I don't want to miss the deadline.

Hi- I only received an email to set up a user name and complete the financial aid application. Keeping fingers crossed í ½í¹í ¼í¿½
