Nyu absn spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Soo......is anyone planning on applying to NYU for their Spring 2017 program....does anyone have any advise about NYU?

Hi Turtleki,

Yea, I look at past threads and they are flooded lol oh well maybe it IS a good thing after all haha So I am actually in the process of applying to PACE for their Pleasantville Campus! (January start). I just have to get my recommendation in before the end of this month. UM and NYU are the only ones I have applied to so far. Did you also apply to PACE? I heard they get around 500 applicants every year and its highly competitive. But it would be great to get in and stay in the city that I love so much!!

And don't worry you still have about a month and a half to get your essay in. Just think deeply about what motivates you to pursue nursing and maybe try to write about one such event that led you to decide that you want to get into nursing. You'll do fine!! And NYU looks at applicants holistically, not just their GPA so you have good chances. Stay positive!

Havent officially applied yet, trying to make a deadline for Monday because I don't want to wait till the last minute (procrastinator at its best haha). For hopeful entry to a program that starts in jan, I'm applying to NYU, Pace absn and 2 year program, Montefiore (asn), Nassau community college...I'm just applying everywhere cause I guess I'm super worried. However, if i could choose I def would to be at NYU even though it cost an arm and leg. Thanks for the encouraging words! Cant wait to see what schools we will get into : )

Thank you... Wow I know it was nerve reckoning waiting for your acceptance! I'm glad all is going well for you. Do you feel its anyway to be extra prepared for the program (i.e. brushing up on particular classes or going ahead in advance on classes that you know you have to take)?

Hey @turtleki I guess the only thing I would suggest going over is your basic anatomy/physiology. Because your first semester you'll be taking Pathophysiology which basically goes over how normal body systems can go wrong. You gotta know really well how things are supposed to work in order to understand how they go wrong. Since there is a lot of material to cover, they don't really spend time re-teaching the normal physiology..so you're kinda on your own with that, and during the semester you don't have a lot of time to review stuff that isn't on exams.

In all honesty though, if you feel like you've got a good grasp on API/II, just spend the time before school relaxing bc everything is going to get intense really fast, and you don't want to get burnt out. I didn't really look at anything before patho, and got an A- in the class so it's definitely doable!

Hello everyone, Im so glad I found this thread! I just submitted my application today. I know on the admissions process page it says recommendations are optional but I am getting three. I already have 2 recommendations down (one nephrologist, one Physician Assistant) waiting on one of the doctors to write me one. I just received my sealed transcripts so Im planning to submit those documents end of the week. I have a 3.6 GPA in undergrad. I did pretty good for my pre-req GPA as well. I am applying to a few other schools but hoping to et into NYU as it is my first choice. @nem90 Congrats on making it to NYU. How are the instructors at NYU? Do you get weekends off? Sorry for all the questions lol

Hey @rhsergill877, thanks! The instructors at NYU are great, I especially found my simulation/clinical instructors to be so knowledgeable and all of our teachers bring in life experiences as a nurse into lectures/clinical which I really like. They all are really receptive to answering emails/questions after class, and really want you to do well. With all that being said, the class is usually split, and two different teachers teach the same class. So it's personal preference, but it tends to be that certain teachers are better suited to teach certain classes than others, and some students feel that they learn better from one teacher over another. But the great thing is that we have recorded classes so you can always watch the other teachers lectures if you feel that you learn better from them.

And yup! We do get weekends off :) depending on your schedule, you usually have one day off during the week as well. Last semester I had Tuesdays off, this semester it is Fridays- but trust me, you'll be using those days to study study study :(

If you have any other questions let me know!

@nem90 thank you for that information. Its very helpful and encouraging. Thats the most part that I think every student worries about is having good professors and instructors. Thats great that you get weekends off and a day off during the week. Its ok if I'll have to study as long as I can stay at home and not commute lol I study best at home. NYU is great but just worried about how to finance it. :/

Just started my application NYU is so expensive

Its over 90k lol not including books, equipment you have to buy lol its ridiculous

Hi everyone, I've also applied to NYU ABSN for the spring 2017 semester, but so far have not really heard anything from them. I am going to call them on Monday to make sure that they did in fact received my application. I can't even check my application status because I think you need to be able to log into Albert for that. Have you guys received any information from them?

I've already been accepted to College of New Rochelle, for the Spring, but NYU would be great because it's a shorter program.

Hi you won't hear anything till 4-6 weeks after the deadline. From what I see from past threads, people usually start hearing back in November. But you do have to call the school to make sure they have received your documents. I called then last week and they have received everything. It sucks thats its such a reputable school yet you constantly have to call them to see if you are missing something. Their website is no gelp, always under maintenance or whatnot :/ but yea just call them and make sure. Otherwise you'll keep wondering.

I'll definitely give them a call tomorrow. I applied for NYU the same time I applied for CNR, and I've already heard from them. NYU's financial aid depart has already emailed me twice about something in my basket, but I don't see how I can apply or check my financial aid status when I cannot log into Albert. Makes no sense. Also, their deadline for financial aid for Spring is November 1, so you think we would hear back a little before then. Fingers crossed for everyone!

Hi all,

I also applied for spring 2017. I have a 3.96 GPA from my BA in business. I did 8 and 7 classes every semester for four semester in my undergraduate. I am a 4.0 so far in prereqs and currently taking 3more subjects to complete my prereqs at my college that I got my BA from. I submitted three LOR's from my school and they have two on file. I have two more from my employers but they said the two they have on file is enough so right now this is where am at. I check Albert everyday but won't receive anything as it is too early. Like everyone else I am very excited and anxious at the same time and really want to get in as this is the only school am applying to. I've read here that people get rejected with 4.0's so that's scary. I have good LOR's and personal statement but I am very nervous.

Hi Everyone... I too applied for the spring 2017 semester. So nerve wrecking waiting, and to know we have several weeks before we hear anything 😩... My stats: I have a BS in Criminal Justice with 3.8 GPA, 3.4 on my pre-reqs, 15 years of experience as a Medical Assistant. So I hope that my undergrad not being related to the medical field is not problem. 🙏🏽

Good Luck to everyone that applied!
