Soo......is anyone planning on applying to NYU for their Spring 2017 program....does anyone have any advise about NYU?

Hey @Songbirdnikki I just saw this now, but I'm in the middle of my second semester in the accelerated program at NYU if you have any questions, I'm more than happy to help!

I plan on applying, i'm gathering all my information together currently, and finishing up my last pre req AP2 (summer course). I'm super worried about my bachelors gpa, but trying not to stress too much. I'm super stoked to fall across this thread... I've been patiently waiting to be in the game lol, instead of watching.

hi @nem90, just curious...do you think its an advantage to apply for the priority deadline vs. regular deadline? Thank you!

Hey @turtleki! I don't know if the first post you wrote was directed towards me, but the good thing is that, while it is competitive to get in, they usually look at the applicant holistically. They do look at a GPA to make sure you can handle the course work, but there are people who had 4.0's that did not get in, and there are people with lower GPA's that did get in over those straight A students. They put a lot of emphasis on your essays and letters of recommendation, because they know grades aren't the only way to determine success. So if you have more concerns about your grades, GPA etc. and don't want to post it publicly feel free to message me!

In terms of applying by deadlines, I'll be honest, I applied by the regular deadline and heard back before people that had applied priority. I don't think it really makes a difference, but it can't hurt! If you have any other questions let me know, and good luck with AP 2! :)

@nem90 Thank you for replying so fast! i appreciate the advice, I will make sure I present strong recommendations and essays. I don't mind sharing my grades...my 4 year degree gpa was 2.4 in business management, my current school (community college) is 3.5, and my pre reqs gpa is 3.8. However, knowing that they are holistic now..i will woo sahhh a little.. Thanks for the well wishes! Oh can't forget to ask, hows the program going for you so far?

@turtleki no prob! To me, thats not bad at all! I can't speak for the school, but to me, it seems like your pre req GPA is good, and you definitely show an upward trend in higher grades etc. Like I said, they look at each person individually, and it's not 100% about grades.

The program so far is good! Prepare to not have a life lol. What's challenging for me, is there are a lot of little assignments, and little things we need to do, on top of studying for exams, going to class and clinicals etc..I guess in a way it trains you in skills you'll need for being a nurse, like time management, prioritizing tasks etc. But so far I love it, it was the only school I applied to, and honestly wouldn't want to go anywhere else!

Thank you... Wow I know it was nerve reckoning waiting for your acceptance! I'm glad all is going well for you. Do you feel its anyway to be extra prepared for the program (i.e. brushing up on particular classes or going ahead in advance on classes that you know you have to take)?

Hello everyone, Im so glad I found this thread! I just submitted my application today. I know on the admissions process page it says recommendations are optional but I am getting three. I already have 2 recommendations down (one nephrologist, one Physician Assistant) waiting on one of the doctors to write me one. I just received my sealed transcripts so Im planning to submit those documents end of the week. I have a 3.6 GPA in undergrad. I did pretty good for my pre-req GPA as well. I am applying to a few other schools but hoping to et into NYU as it is my first choice. @nem90 Congrats on making it to NYU. How are the instructors at NYU? Do you get weekends off? Sorry for all the questions lol

Yay, glad you found the thread as well... lol I'm not alone. I didn't know that we can apply now... but thanks i just got motivated to move aa little faster on the application process. I plan on applying to the the absn and two year program..and i have a few other schools I'm interested in. However, just like you...NYU is my first choice. Best of luck!!!!!!!

So I was just reading the past threads for the Spring cohorts and people started getting their acceptance letters/rejection letters Mid November!!! 3 more months to go till we hear back!! I thought there would be more people on this thread lol

I also applied to University of Miami- Spring start. NYU and UM are the only two that start Spring, at least the ones I applied to.

Im surprised you didn't apply to Pace University as well... and even more surprised that this thread is not flooded. Hey, maybe thats a good thing for us : ) . I pretty much have all my stuff together but I just really stuck on this essay. My gpa is so low from my undergrad and it put a lot of pressure on my essay and recommendations. Ill try to have it done by Monday so all can be shipped out... But I do love NYU for not making students wait so longggg to hear back. I'm quite sure that can be extremely nerve reckoning
