NYU ABSN FAll 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

When do people begin hearing back? Is admissions rolling? Do they accept a lot of applicants?

Hi everyone!
I just submitted my application. I also applied to Downstate and Pace. I have all As in the required pre requisites and my undergrad GPA from FIT was a 3.7. I’ve been working as a medical records clerk for almost 5 years now so I’m hoping that counts as relevant experience!
Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get in ??

hi guys. I’m also applying for nyu ABSN. this is actually my third time applying. tbh it’s so hard to get into a program bc my GPA is 2.65 and schools look at our undergraduate cumulative GPA

Hey,

Have you tried retaking your prereqs? It would help bring up your GPA and schools love seeing upward trends. I had to retake A&P I because I got a D the first time. Because it was a 4.5 credit class, it brought my GPA down a lot. It took me a while to bring it up to something satisfactory .

yeah I tried to retake them but covid happened so I had to withdraw the classes

Does anyone know if you apply early will you find out earlier to? Is admissions rolling?

@allynurse2b123 "For this program, admissions decisions are released on a weekly basis beginning a few weeks after the final deadline. For the fall semester, admissions decisions will begin to be released as soon as late April and as late as mid June. During this time, you will want to be sure to check your application portal and email for any new updates to the status of your application." This is what I received . Hope it helps!

Thanks for your response. Can you let me know if they get back to you? Also, I heard they are super holistic, your experience is unique nonetheless, and your pre-req grades aren't bad. I assume they receive a lot of applications from people who have 4.0's and tons of clinical experience, I think they like to see unique applications. Either way, they always say to just go for things even if you feel under-qualified, you never know what might happen.

You should try calling them about any information! I always call them directly, they are super responsive and really nice.

Hey there, I was wondering the same as NYU’s website is a bit confusing. I sent them an email but have not gotten a response. I also don't see a dropbox to submit my essay on the common app, which is making me think that we do need to send to NYU.

I keep on getting second thoughts about the process. I am not sure if I am competitive enough. I have all my prerequisites as:

A & P 1: C

A & P 2: C+

Stat: B

Nutrition: B+

Chem: B

Micro: B-

I have Developmental Psych 1: A

I need to do Developmental Psych 2:

I graduated this past Fall from Hunter College with a Bachelors in Public Health.

I don't have any volunteer work or medical experience other than working as a nanny for 10 years, with infants and a child with ADHD and Dyslexia. But I am a mother of a year old which was my top priority for many years. And I really really want this, I feel like I belong in this program. I live right next door to the hospital.

Anyhow, wishing everyone the very best.

As I told elephantnurse, you should try calling about any questions! I always call them, they answer super quick and are pretty responsive.

Has anyone been accepted yet?

Hey, quick question guys. When turning in your applications how many letter of recommendations did you guys include? One or two? In the pre reqs list they say two but in the application list they make it seem as one. Any answers help, thanks ?
