NYU ABSN FAll 2021

Published

Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

Hey everyone, I'm currently in the NYU 2nd Bachelor's in Nursing Program though as a "non accelerated" student. Out of lockdown boredom made this little video about the application process including some stats (about a 3.2 GPA, did my first bachelor's in psychology, also through NYU, as well as some other science pre-med classes at San Francisco State). I had not finished my pre-nursing classes when applying (only did Chemistry, getting an A- in that). Hope it's helpful! Good luck

Feel free to DM me questions, happy to connect:

Hi everyone, I plan on applying soon. I'm just waiting for my recommendations to finish.

My Undergrad GPA is 3.54. I'm currently finishing up a public health degree. Prereq GPA is probably somewhere around 3.0 or 3.1.

Prereqs: A&P I = B, A&P II = B, Microbio = B, Chemistry = A, Stats = B, Lifespan = A, Nutrition = pending since I take it next semester.

I have different types of healthcare experience from volunteering to working in a hospital. I'm hoping they are holistic with my application LOL

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of applying for the Fall 2021 cohort, and I'm beyond nervous! I'm graduating in the Spring of 2021 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I have some healthcare experience as a CNA and also tutored students in A&P. Here are my prereq grades just in case any of you wanted to know:

Anatomy: A, Physiology: A-, Gen chem w/ lab: B-, Stats: B+, Lifespan: A, Micro: Pending, Nutrition: Pending

Are any of you planning to live on campus? I'm from the West Coast, so I hope to be living in graduate housing if I get accepted.

Hey there! Thank you for offering insight! Do you know how many accelerated, and non-accelerated applicants they accept for every term?

Not sure, but guessing a few hundred accelerated students each year then at least 100 non-accelerated?

Do any of you have any idea when we would hear back about decisions for Fall 2021? I'm anticipating submitting my application before the priority deadline in like January or February.

My stats are.... very unique... haha so I'm not sure how good they will be to compare.

I have a BA in Women's Studies and a spent a few years doing public health education and advocacy with youth experiencing sexual/domestic violence. 3.47 GPA and my honors thesis researched racial disparities in hysterectomy procedures- but it wasn't clinical.

In undergrad, I was actually double majoring in nursing and WST. I was a semester away from graduating from the nursing program when some really horrible things happened in my life and I failed a course and out of the nursing program (and my GPA tanked). In retrospect, I should've done a medical withdrawal but I was just overwhelmed and dumb and didn't do it and went on to just finish my other major.

Most schools don't accept students who were previously in other programs so I don't have high expectations, but I do have a lot of experience in women's health from a policy/education standpoint, as well as the 250 clinical hours from my previous program- and a pretty deep understanding of the nursing profession with clear goals of what I want to do in the future.

At this point, I'm just hoping a school will decide to feel holistic enough in their admissions process to take a chance on me!

Hey, I was in another nursing program as well and I left because of my personal issues at the time. I know someone who was in a program previously and NYU still accepted them. So I think we should be fine and they’ll look at us holistically.

does anyone know if we put in all of our courses on common app or just our prereqs

I hear it varies anywhere between March-June which is unfortunate since most schools require a decision to be made rather quickly. Don't get discouraged because you were in another program! I know someone who got kicked out of her first nursing program because of her low grades, and was still accepted to NYU!

Hi all!

There was a bit of a snafu with my app; I completed an application for Spring 2021 instead of Fall 2021, told NYU admissions, and they told me to go ahead and switch it since I hadn't sent it in. Long story short I have the entirety of my Fall app finished, but I lost my professors' recommendations in the process. Would it be worth it to ask them to send their recs again? Are y'all applying with recs?

Hey everyone! If anyone has started their application - Was there an option to apply to the priority deadline on the Common Application? I only saw the final deadline option (April 1). So I am assuming we just need to apply by March 1? Thanks in advance.
