Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

Really? OK, I’d better check on that. Everyday I see something else I should have done! LOL

I don’t think it’s required, just recommended. I felt like it asked for way more information than FAFSA but it’s essentially the same

It isn't required...its just another way to get scholarships/aid. I
If your parents support you, they have to fill out a css profile too, so thats where it differs from the one FAFSA form you fill out. I am a lot older than the usual college aged person, and live independently so my parents did not fill out a css profile.

I would say to do it because just federal aid will barely make a dent in nyu’s tuition! also, I believe the css profile makes you eligible for consideration for aid from nyu specifically. it’s not like you wouldn’t get any financial aid at all if you didn’t fill it out but it’s worth a shot to see if you can from nyu!
IDK maybe things have changed but in undergrad I remember knowing ppl that didn’t get institutional aid due to not filling out the css profile?

2 questions -
1. I already submitted my application March 1. If I add a letter of recommendation to my application, does that affect the timeline its reviewed by?
2. Did anyone submit a personal letter of recommendation? I'm not super familiar with these...can these come from someone like a friend?
Thanks!!
Hi! The letter of recommendation does not come from a friend. It comes from a professor or an academic in your life. Read through the FAQ, here is a copy paste if you have been out of school for some time. "Students who have been out of school for more than one year can submit a professional letter of recommendation from a current supervisor or employer."

I applied for the program earlier this month just after the priority deadline. If I applied on March 4th and all my application material have been ready since then, when do you think I should hear back?
No one here can tell you that. It's just a waiting game at this point for all of us. Good luck!

That's interesting because when I asked if I should submit both CSS and FAFSA during an information session, one of the faculty members said to only fill out the FAFSA... I wish I submitted CSS anyways haha

Gosh I really hope so! I am like you and it's making me very anxious. I am not holding out hope though. From what I have read here on this thread, we could be waiting weeks/months! Argh! Not sure I can take it! LOL
I got an email this morning saying my application was incomplete and asking for midterm grade reports, which I didn't know we were expected to send. I sorted it out right away, but it seemed to me from the email like today was the first time they were looking at my application, so I don't know if that means some decisions will be out later today or if we are going to be waiting a few more weeks ?
