NYU ABSN Fall 2018

Published

Hello all,

I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)

I saw it in albert earlier today and just received the email now. My weighted undergrad gpa is about 3.3. My pre-reqs were all A's with exception of Chem II (B), and I have not completed my nutrition pre-req. I did take most of my pre-reqs at a local community college for financial reasons.

I worked at a group home for folks with Autism spectrum diagnoses and also an orthopedic office for two years after that. More recently, I have been working as a med sales rep in the New York Hospitals for over 2+ years. Since November I have been working an additional weekend job assisting a client with Parkinson's Disease. I have also volunteered with New York Cares.

Not sure where the disconnect was, but it seems they are seeking someone more diverse. The rejection letter basically said I was competitive enough, but they couldn't give me a seat due to the applicant pool. It was very strange because they reviewed my app very quickly in March and the admissions person I was communicating with kind of made it seem like I was a viable candidate. I applied 3/2.

I hope this helps some people with the stress associated with this process.

I've also applied to Seton Hall and Drexel. Where else did everyone apply?

Wow, I can't believe you got rejected ... I would've assumed an acceptance with previous experience and grades.

I agree with you. She is very competitive, I just don't get the reason why they reject her. OMG, I am giving up hope on NYU

Dont give up hope! Every school has different reasons as to why they can reject a person, despite credentials. :( kinda sucks but thats life

Right !! Makes me wonder what they would think about me!

Specializes in Perinatal.

For those waiting for letters, I got a rejection letter today as well. I already accepted a seat elsewhere anyway, but before I'm asked, my undergrad GPA is 3.21, prerequisites 3.75, 5 years experience in direct-entry midwifery, two letters of rec, tons of diversity training and volunteer experience. I got accepted at University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne university in PA, and Linfield College in Portland, Or. I was wait-listed at Emory in Atlanta. I actually got into my first choice school so I'm thrilled even with the NYU letter today. Best of luck to you all!

OMG! I am thrilled with your case too. I could image how competitive this year.
