NYU ABSN Fall 2017

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone was applying to NYU for the ABSN program in fall 2017? I'm kind of nervous because my GPA isn't the highest since I had to work all four years to help pay for school which took away from my studying time. I do have work experience in the health care field and a little over 100 hours of health related volunteering. Also, how is everyone planning on paying for school since it is soo expensive?

shamadi, have you looked at the threads about Pace on these forums? I did before narrowing down what programs to apply to and it sounded like the ABSN program at Pace is rather iffy just fyi.

I don't know why I thought NYU was around 50k for tuition, but now I've got sticker shock and I think I have to do some serious considering if I end up being accepted (don't get me wrong, I'd still be absolutely thrilled at being accepted). 90k for tuition alone is just...I'm having trouble reconciling that kind of price tag on a 15 month program for a career that isn't really known for being a big money maker (unless you go on to do a CRNA but that's a whole other ball game). It's why I chose not to apply to places like Penn and Duke.

ETA: I checked the math: for tuition alone (not including other fees which was a separate link I didn't even click on) based on the rates they quote on their website from 2016-2017, the four terms for the ABSN program total $99,899.

blackberrymousse, I actually didn't look much into the quality of programs I applied to because I seriously doubted my chances of getting accepted anywhere due to my low undergrad gpa although I managed to get 4.0 on all prereqs so I was basically just applying to very few that didn't have strict gpa requirements!

It is good to know that about Pace though so thank you! I guess NYU has better nursing program.

My ultimate goal is to become NP in psych but that won't happen for couple years down the road so over 100k debt is seriously crazy money!

Hey guys, I think we're supposed to start hearing back by tomorrow and into next week! I got an email from NYU asking a question about one of my prerequisites and they said my application is in review, so I'm sure decisions will be made soon. Fingers crossed!

If i might ask, did you apply priority deadline or regular deadline? - Also, what did they ask about the prerequisite. Its okay if you are not comfortable sharing...just nervous and curious, a horrible combo lol. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing back from you!!!

Not yet! I applied before priority deadline and I called teice to check on my app status. They keep saying they haven't received 1 transcript from one of my schools...and I requested that to be sent twice! And one of two recommendations sent they haven't received yet...I'm so worried!

How did you send the letters of recommendation? I called and they had given me an email the letters could be sent directly to after you scan them in. I used that way and within the next day when I called they were both already in my file. If you want the email let me know! Goodluck to you!!

Just checked my application status on Albert and it still doesn't say that they received my transcripts -- it's been more than four weeks (more like six weeks already) since I submitted my application. I'll have to call them tomorrow and double check on transcripts and recommendations.

Hey guys! Just found this page and I've been reading through the comments. I wish everyone here the best of luck! I too applied to the accel. program for the Fall and I'm so nervous for the admissions process! I hope my GPA, LoRs, and my personal statement are strong but hey, I guess we'll find out this week lol!

I am with you Blackberrymousse, I submitted my app more than 6wks ago and they still say one of my transcripts& LoR haven't arrived yet.. I don't know what to do. I didn't have to do any of this with U Mass amherst and I just got acceptance letter one day..i wish it wouls be the same way!!! í ½í¸³

I did speak to admissions counselor and he said decisions will be sent out all through April and May so I say we all be patient!!!
