Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone was applying to NYU for the ABSN program in fall 2017? I'm kind of nervous because my GPA isn't the highest since I had to work all four years to help pay for school which took away from my studying time. I do have work experience in the health care field and a little over 100 hours of health related volunteering. Also, how is everyone planning on paying for school since it is soo expensive?
Hi tea.ns,
I read through last year's NYU thread and at least one person there had a similar problem to yours. You should call NYU's admissions office (212) 998-4500 and explain your situation. Ask to speak to an admissions counselor and they can advise you on what to do. They might be able to flag your application so it can be expedited through the review process -- I don't know if they can or will, but it doesn't hurt to explain your problem and ask them for assistance since you did everything you were supposed to such as submitting your application & materials by the priority date (which honestly, should mean something, otherwise why have a priority deadline at all, in regards to people getting a decision faster but it seems not to with NYU).
Good luck and let us know what admissions says!
Hi everyone, congrats on your acceptances!
For the microbiology prerequisite, does anyone have suggestions for where to take the course online?
I'm looking at Excelsior, since it is only 8 weeks, and it is $1,500.
Does anyone have any recommendations for courses that are cheaper than Excelsior?
Thank you!
y109, you can't take that online lol.. I'm pretty sure the only online courses you can take is Lifespan and Nutrition
y109- According to the application , the only course that cannot be completed online is the gen chem. As long as the specific course is approved by the college, you're good to go.
Congrats to everyone that has been accepted! I am soo nervous about application decisions, I applied on March 1st but have not heard anything yet regarding my application. It is great to know that you are able to call to speak to someone about your file, I keep freaking out thinking my letters of rec are lost in the mail!
I didnt have the best gpa from my original bachelors, but I have a 4.0 in pre-reqs that I have completed in the past two years that will hopefully show that I am dedicated to nursing. Has one figured how to apply for aid? I submitted a FASFA but I know you have to apply online for NYU as well but for some reason I cant figure out where exactly we are suppose to file with them. Any one else having a similar issue?
For this program we are only required to fill out FAFSA for financial aid and TAPS if a New York resident. I called financial aid and was told that the CRES application is not required to be considered for financial aid for this specific program. That is only required for freshman and what not to be considered for internal aid.

Tea.ns, log into your albert portal. Once you log in, on the left hand side, it's going to say "Admission" and under that, click application status. From there on out, it should be easy, but click on your decision letter and it should tell you whether you can accept or decline the acceptance. If it's not there, then you will have to wait until they give you one!
