NYU ABSN Fall 2015

Published

Anyone planning to apply to NYU ABSN program for fall 2015. Since I'm in CA, there's no way I could attend the information session. What important things were mentioned at the information session?

it didn't take too long. do they read applications in order of coming in or after all are submitted?

Hello everyone. I wanted to chime in. I have applied as a non accelerated student. I still need to take A&P and nutrition. I am waiting to take A&P at NYU due to the class being only one semester.

My stats: I have a BS in Communication Disorders with a 3.7 GPA. I have completed a year of grad school in Speech-Language Pathology with a 3.7 GPA. I have completed all of prerequisite courses except the ones listed above with As. I have quite a bit on my resume pertaining to Communication Disorders. In regards to nursing, I have participated in an Externship at a hospital under supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist working with patient's with dysphagia and defenestrated trachs.

I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that we all get in. Those who have not yet turned in all documents, no worries. I haven't either. My online application has been sent. I just need to send the rest in the mail.

I forgot to mention that I am taking microbiology now, so I do not have a grade for that. cheers!

I have looked through many past threads about the NYU absn to see peoples stats so I wanted to share my stats. I have a 3.4 undergrad GPA as of now but I am graduating in May so hopefully that will go up, I am not sure what my prerequisite GPA is. I have over 100 hours as a volunteer in a children's hospital over the past year and a half, I am an intern at a non-profit organization helping kids with cancer and their families, and I am the Co-Chair of the volunteer advisory committee at the childrens hospital near me. My GPA is not as good as I wanted it to be but I am hoping my volunteer work will help me. Does anyone else care to share their stats? I am so nervous that I won't get in and have to keep searching for a nursing school once Ive graduated undergrad.

Good evening everyone,

I am going to be in the ABSN Fall 2015 cohort with some of you this fall. I applied last semester as a non-accelerated 2nd degree student because I needed Microbio and Nutrition. I love NYU, and all the resources this school has available to its students. If you have any questions about the program or the application process I would be happy to answer you as best I can.

Good Luck and hope to see some of you this fall!

Congratulations to those who have heard back! It looks like they're releasing some admissions answers for the non-accelerated track.

On the website it says decisions will be released by June 15th at the latest, but has anybody who applied for the ABSN heard back already?

Thanks!

Admissions told me yesterday that they haven't started reviewing for ABSN

Thanks! Really struggling right now because some schools are starting to give decisions and have deposit deadlines in March/April.... anyone else in this boat?

Yah I have to decide on a school by 4/1 and I've already put in a deposit for 1 school

What other schools have you guys applied to for the absn?

Specializes in Neuro ICU.
Hi, all!

Question -- has anyone started/submitted their FAFSA yet?

I'm listing myself as an independent, but it said you might want to list your parent(s) financial information if you are a healthcare student (including nursing). Not sure if I should include my parents' info. Any advice?

Maura

I'm honestly not sure either. I already did my taxes and completed my FAFSA but did so without including parental information. Hoping this is the right way to go.

Thank you for responding!! I actually called the financial aid office, and because I'm an "independent" I didn't include any of my parent's financial info.
