Hello,
I am a new grad in nyc having trouble. I just started work in a nursing home bc I need the money. I would like a job in a hospital, any job or any hospital! Is there anything I should be doing or anyway I can do to stand out? I've been messaging recruiters on LinkedIn but only one has given me a call and im not even sure what's going to be the outcome of that.

I graduate in december and wondered if you had any tips about where to apply and when I should be applying especially for residencies in NYC. I've looked into Northwell Health, NYU, and NYP but don't see anything posted. Has anyone else been seeing the same thing?

I think its a good start to get comfortable with basic nursing. However its usually understaffed and disorganized so its not something I'd recommend staying. It also looks good on a resume when applying to hospitals.

If your okay moving, try Stony Brook Hospital in Suffolk Long Island. They are hiring new grads into their nurse 1 positions.

Why would they post jobs if there is a freeze

Lots of reasons - to generate interest and a pool of applicants for the point where the freeze is lifted, for example.
I'm not sure if there's still a full on freeze or if they're slowly hiring. But its very tough esp as someone with no experience. Nursing home staffing rations are killing me, I hope they become more open to new grads soon

I hope not. There's no reason to continue with a freeze. I may attempt to give HR a call tomorrow to figure out some things. I know finding a RN position in NYC is difficult without COVID so I know its beyond difficult now.

Yes, I don't know a single person in my class that has gotten a hospital job yet. If it wasn't for covid restrictions, I would consider showing up to the hospitals. Getting in touch with recruiters is also difficult
