Agreed, it is frightening the degree to which the vaccine is being pushed, even here on allnurses. I'll let indigo girl roll the dice (she certainly has the right to do so), but as for me? No thanks, I won't be your guinea pig.

Who's behind all this media fear-mongering? I worked in the news business for a number of years, and believe me, editors and PR folks know how to "create" a story and keep it running for months.

What we learned in school seems to have been abandoned in favor of hype. Thank God there are asctually discening health care professionals out there willing to stand up against this vaccine nonsense. Let's hope these kinds of protests become "contagious" ...

There is something very strange going on here...Is it a coincidence that this is being pushed so hard and so fast now, at a time when our government is trying so hard to get a major health care reform bill passed? What better way to get everyone all eager to do this than to have a real or contrived health emergency?

I am also very disturbed by the story I recently came across about how Baxter, one of the companies making this vaccine, was found to have sent out a large batch of vaccine contaminated with H5N1 virus. (It has a 60% kill rate, and is a level 3 biosafety agent- so go figure how it "accidently" got into the vaccine...) This story is being covered over in Europe, but nothing is being said over here...why?

Well, I'll let the conspiracy theorists have at it, but you do have to wonder about this.

I'm glad they are going to rally, but unfortunately rallying doesn't do much good, especially when faced with an agency. Unless their pocketbook is bigger than that of the collective Pharma industry, then this won't get them anywhere. I think a state-wide health care worker strike would be the only thing that might get their attention.

The news about the H5N1 virus being "accidentally" distributed was HUGE in Europe, and as you said, not a peep was heard in the United States. In fact, the story died out very quick in Europe as well.

An well-known microbiologist I'm acquainted with said public health officials dead-ended it. One can only imagine why...:stone

i am praying the rally on september 29 in albany will get the attention of those in government. i've written to individuals in the assembly, congress and even president obama after i read his statement about the h1n1 not being mandatory. one congresswoman wrote back telling me to contact my union:banghead:!!!!!! the others, not a response and it has been since september 7, 2009!! i feel like a cornered rat...take the hasty vax or lose my livelihood{but one knows what happens when you corner trap a rat, right?:hlk:}. morale at the hhc hospitals in nyc is at an all time low as everyone...administrators, housekeepers, dieticians, clerical, students, nurse, doctors,...everyone who comes into contact with someone who comes into contact with patients must be vaccinated or be terminated by nov 30, 2009.

Does what happened in Europe with Baxter have anything to do with the swine flu vaccine being released in the US?

No, it doesn't. Here's why.

Baxter is not one of the 5 companies licensed to make flu vaccine for the US market.

The five companies are: MedImmune, Novartis AG, Sanofi-Aventis SA, GlaxoSmithKline PLC and CSL Ltd.

It is information that needs to be brought out and discussed, indigo girl. There has been too much info from one side only, which is leading to a panic state among some. And this panic state is leading us into some uncharted waters.

Technically, although Baxter itself may not be one of the makers releasing vaccine in this country, the news is very troubling. They are in fact very involved in this vaccine maunufacture, and if they have recently had some kind of accident or even sabatoge, people need to know this.

We have to have more than the usual "Swine flu is deadly and you're all gonna DIE if you don't take the vaccine!", which is really all I'm hearing these days. We KNOW the flu is dangerous, that is not news. We KNOW is spreads easily, also not news. What IS news is that we are about to engage in the biggest medication "test" in history, and that those who refuse to be a part of it are being FORCED, under threat of job loss, to participate.

What's the saying? Better the devil you know than the one you don't...
