hi people,

i just passed the phil nursing lic exam last dec 06.

i would want to apply for a ny nursing license for nclex asap but i dont know where to start...:o

where do i get an application form? (online would be much preffered.)

& what wud be the steps & procedures??

pardon my ignorance im just really confused....

many thanx in advance...

hi,isneyk

im a RN from hong kong,i also want to work in NYC. Recently, i applied for the CP (certification programme) from CGFNS. unfotunately, they reject it since i havent sufficient hours in infant/maternal nursing in therorectical instruction and clinical practice. i phoned to CGFNS already ask for the number of hours which i need for this specialty. they said its confidential...............lol

and now i dont know what to do bcoz im gonna apply for the CVS from CGFNS but im afraid they'll reject me with the same reason......i ask the staff in CGFNS again whether they'll reject me r not. they said they are not sure...."u have to send it first to seee..." what a good answer.....i dont really know how much i have to spend in the CGFNS again and again........im thinking like im gambling with them....pay them and wait for refusal lol........

on the other hand ,im thinking to make up my hours in the infant/maternal nursing so i can meet their requirement. however, we dont have such a single course provide to me in hong kong since all nursing school has been closed for several years.anyone has idea what should i do here ?

1.send the CVS for NYS to CGFNS and try my luck?

2.find a single course of infant/maternal in overseas or in states?

3.anyone know there's a single course for that part of nursing and approved by CGFNS?

4.does anyone know about the hours of infant/maternal nursing in applyiing for NCLEX in NYS?

5.should i apply to vermont like some nurses do which is more easy and fast?

thx for all ur attention here guys...

best regards

is IELTS exam required in NY? should i take the test after passing nclex? i heard that the IELTS has an expiration period, can anybody pls confirm?

thanks agen....

You really need to check their website to say whether it is required but I think it isn't. Yes it does have an expiration date and for purpose of VSC it is 2 years

Hi!

I don't think so but they will not issue license without completing the courses (sure there are 2 courses you have to complete) think the other course is on infection control http://www.op.nysed.gov/nursing.htm

just adding to what anna had posted as well just in case it may be applicable to some people reading this thread.

there has been reliable reports that those part of the june 2006 batch are taking longer than usual to process and no reports yet of any of their applications were processed as well ever since the re-take (if they did) and if that helped in finally completing the process. other applications from other countries and also who applied much later than them already have their eligibility letters.

*those with such applications and who had received their eligibility letters, pls. feel free to post it here or make another thread about it. thanks.

Hi!

most likeky yes as you need to answer item #22 on the application re this so i acqiured mine online thru;

http://www.preventingchildabuse.net/Courses/ChildAbuse/course.htm

took me 2-3hrs ( lunchtime included:D ) & $30 via creditcard.

they are among the approved course work providers listed by the NYSED

Should tell you on your letter/email that you got saying you are eligible. Most ate 90 days for ATT but some states are longer.

Thanks for letting us know your timescale and good luck

NYSED will only give you a license number to be use in registering for NCLEX. You will be the one to take of your application for NCLEX. When did you start your CVS? It will take time, mine takes 14 months before I got the result. Limited permit is only issued to those people who have come to the US without taking NCLEX.This is issued for you to work while you are waiting for the result of your NCLEX. They will not issue you a limited permit since you are in the Philippines, with the retrogression in effect the best way is for you to secure all requirements first, gain experience and worry about immigration later. By the way have you started your immigration process?(I-140,Visa fee bill,DS-230)

NYSED has emailed me to confirm my eligibility, but they did not give me a license number. How can I register for NCLEX?

thanks very much

You will not get a license number until you pass the NCLEX exam and have one issued to you. You need to register with Pearson-Vue, which I believe that you have already done and then wait to receive the ATT.

NY will not send you anything else until you take and pass the exam.
