NVCC Spring 2018 Hybrid Program

Published

Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!

May the odds be ever in our favor

That is not true. I got my confirmation on September 15th. When did you submit your application? It is disappointing to hear that they are saying no emails have been sent when they have. Maybe not a bulk email to those processed after deadline? Im not sure. Sounds like the same confusion as previous years

Definetly expected this as it's always a disorganized mess. Everyone you talk to says something different. I'm just trying to piece stuff together to calm the anxiety of the wait! Haha. My application was delivered at the end of August, so that might be it. Just wish we could get some concrete info. Do you mind sharing what the email said or what email address you received it from so we know what to expect. Thanks!

Can someone message the MEC on Facebook and see if we can get any better intel? I don't have Facebook or I would....

Now might be a good time for you to open a Facebook account. Anybody with an email account can. We may have to have a page for our class, if we all get in.

The email simply states my application was received and processes and sent to the nursing department. That they cannot give number of students that will be accepted, date of mandatory orientation or date notifications of acceptance will go out

That information is likely wrong Cleo. I see no reason for them to take less and lose so much in tuition and all. If you or the person simply looked on SIS and concluded so because only one Lecture class is available right now for NUR 111, sorry it don't mean a thing. Why not count the spaces available for lab or clinical? Same thing happened during fall. They will update SIS and add the other class with time I hope. Cheer up!

Hi everyone! I was admitted to the Fall program and just wanted to let you know that I have heard from one of my NUR professor and a friend was told by an advisor at the MEC that there would only be about 30 slots for the Hybrid semester. There were 114 people admitted for the Fall, but the Hybrid class is always very small according to my professor.

Hope this helps. The faculty doesn't know anything about admissions besides the usual amount admitted.

Mehnnnn..... Unbelievable! Vg2481, what is this "the program is everywhere," or disorganized that people keep saying?

I have called MEC and they told me that they are not sending any processing email if there is no missing document. They are sending email only when there is something missing in the application. We will receive only their decision email in our student email. Also they are accepting very few students in the hybrid program. It is usually less than half of traditional program and this year she guessed only 30 students will make it. This is the third person in MEC who mentioned about accepting 30 students this semester. I am totally hopeless now :( Please keep us updated if anyone has any information. Thanks all of you for sharing information till now.

Hi vg2481,

It must be awesome to get accepted in such a competitive program. If you don't mind will you share what was your GPA and teas score before applying? Because even though the requirement is 58% in all three sections, it seems like who are getting 90's are getting chance in the program which is very dissapointing. If they want 90 in teas they should have set the requirement in that way. Any way, thanks for sharing info with us.

I got my processing email on September 15. It also said that I was NOT missing anything in my email. Take any information given from admins with a grain of salt. I'm not sure why they all day something different. Very discouraging to hear only 30 students. Ugh. Not sure what to do or what back up plan I can come up with quickly :(

Hey all,

I've also applied to the hybrid program for spring 2018 and have not heard anything yet. I did apply towards the end of the application period so I'm not expecting to hear anything for at least awhile. If they are accepting 30 students, then I'm not sure what would take so long to send out the emails to notify us. Seems like they already know what they want for the program, so why take at least 4 weeks to pick 30 students? Well, fingers crossed that more students get accepted. I'll update once I hear something. Hope you guys are enjoying the cooler weather!
