Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!
May the odds be ever in our favor
Hi all,
The student service office of MEC campus told to one of my friend that they only took 25 students for hybrid program this year because of short staffs. Did you guys received any acceptance or declining emails yet? Since they have already taken 25 students I don't know why they are making us wait. If any of you receives any email from them please let us know. Thanks

Hi Inamra, did your friend specify that they have already sent out acceptances? Did they have a timeline of when notifications would be sent out?
I contacted the MEC and a counselor told me desicions have not been made yet. She did not provide me with a timeline or potential of spots. Please post when you guys do hear anything. I am expecting we'all hear around the 20th or so according to timelines from past years. Guess we really just have to wait and see!
I was told that the nursing department would be given the eligible applications by Friday the 20th and to expect an admission decision within two weeks from that date. She also said they would only take 25 because of the new curriculum that starts fall of 2018 will take faculty away from the available pool to teach the 2018 Spring hybrid program. Friend of mine who works on campus asked for me.
She also said that they're looking at your prereq science grades (60%) and TEAS results (40%) for ranking purpose.

I have met all requirements too but feel discourage with number of applicants and openings as well as other scores. There seems to be less than 30 people on this thread, so maybe we will all get in and all will be well :) Wishing you all the best of luck! Like other people on here said, if you have not received an email that your application has been processed, I would not worry too much. If you have your tracking number and your application was delivered, you should be ok. We are week closer to finding out! Good luck everyone!
