NVCC Spring 2018 Hybrid Program

Published

Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!

May the odds be ever in our favor

How have they not sent out all the acceptance letters/emails for 25 people? That's a little unbelievable. I'll guess we'll see...

Hi all!

I didn't get any letter of denial =( but it's Friday 2:30 pm yesterday seems like a lot people got their acceptance letters about that time...

I guess we will know by Monday. I live close to the medical campus, and it's the second time applying, I'm just so disappointed =(.

Congrats to the people who got in!

I called, and they told me that if anyone drops/gives up their spot/doesn't pass the drug screen/background check they will go down the list until the program fills. So spots could open between now and end of November. I'm not holding my breath since, I'm a Stafford resident and it looks like it is the only reason I didn't get in. No way I can afford Chamberlain or the other private schools.

 this is so disappointing.

what were your science grades/teas scores? what did the people that got in have?

I wish you had enough looked through the last thread. I live in Stafford and was told the same thing. Germanna is our service area and is where you would recieve priority one consideration. Doesn't matter your grades or test scores they will take care of their priority one students first.

I did........yay! I will also start in January...I can't waste anymore time....I need to be back on the medical field working full time....BTW my name is Merly...what's yours?

Still nothing. I couldn't get ahold of anyone in the Nursing department and no one returned my call. The woman I spoke to in a student Services said, "Yes Dear. All the emails for both acceptance and rejection have gone out. If you haven't received anything, call back n Monday and we can figure it out."

So apparently they haven't sent out all acceptance letters.

The deed is done. They send out acceptances in bulk and then a week or so later, they send rejections. I plan to look into chamberlain like others here but I am on a strict budget and NOVA curriculum allows me to continue to work even with clinicals. I guess that is not important to all of us here. Will see how it goes. Someone say "Will figure it out." That is the what I love to see. There is not room for giving up.

Curriculum at other schools is hard with my schedule too. Reviews for ECPI, Chamberlain and ultimate health make me nervous. I dont know what to do! Would need to take PSY 230 to apply in Jan and not much of an option there. Then my NAS classes wont qualify for hybrid next year. I would need 3-4 classes just to meet requirements to apply. Im going to pray on it at this point! I dont see a clear answer or direction at this time :/

I would be careful about reviews for nursing. Nursing school sucks. Nobody likes nursing school. No matter where you go, you are going to hate it anyway. But I would strongly caution against going to ECPI. You have to look for NCLEX pass rates to know if a school is going to stay open or be closed soon. Chamberlain is a solid school, if pricey. Their schedule changes every six to 8 weeks, so you have to plan that into your life. Ultimate's main gain is that it is more walk in. ECPI is super expensive- I think the LPN is like 44 000 or so. And cost of RN is just as bad. But don't forget the traditional program. It's an ok program

Keep off schools with NCLEX pass rates below 80%, because they are going to go to probation or close.
