Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!
May the odds be ever in our favor
Just heard back from my friend, who asked around for me. They had over 200 applications and only took 24 students. I didn't get an acceptance letter... I'm aging out of my dancing gig, between commuting from Stafford to DC or Maryland and the younger girls coming in, I can't keep up anymore.
Congrats to everyone that made it in.
Your TEAS scores were almost perfect and you didn't get in? Wow.
Maybe its my Stafford address??? I just looked over that NOVA service area thing and I don't see Stafford!!, ARRghh I can't catch a break. We moved to that damn house because it was all we could afford, than he leaves me and I have to work to make enough to support myself and my family. "Dancing" is putting it politely . And now, now I don't get in because of some stupid arbitrary boundary line!!!!
I'm so sorry! My husband got out of the military so I can pursue this... I have a bachelors of science from Virginia Tech... I'm a young mom of 3 boys with good pre req grades and a high TEAS score and didn't get in either :/ our life is kinda ****** right now because my husband barely makes anything. All because I forced him out to apply for this program
Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted!! I am sure you worked hard for this opportunity. Would those accepted be willing to share their TEAS, GPA and when application was submitted? I am asking so I can make a decision on where to go from here. I was told all of those things matter when applying. I need to figure out if I should keep trying at NOVA or move on. I submitted early like they suggested, have decent GPA and TEAS. I'm not here to critize or cry unfair, really just looking for some insight from reliable sources! Thank you!!!
You and me both. This is very disheartening.
I want to vomit right now. I haven't received anything yet. I am having the worst day ever. I was in a small car crash with my 9 month old daughter earlier today and now this?!?! I am feeling completely helpless now and so now I don't know what i am going to do.

So sorry! I hope you are both ok. It's beyond disappointing and I really don't know what to do. Wondering if this is a "sign" that nursing is not for me. But I have been working as a MA for 14 years, doing everything from blood, vaccines, ekgs, x-rays, RXs- you name it. Hate to go to another field.
I don't understand November 10th either. Especially since the nursing site says they do not utilize wait list. Confusing.
