Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!
May the odds be ever in our favor
Just email chamberlain. They are super helpful. That way, you know what transfers before you begin. If you have an LPN, I think you get 9 credits for it. And they take a lot of the courses from Nova, but I am not sure of NAS. A lot of my workmates go there, and some of the EMTs and bio majors are taking a&p. Another pricey school ( the priciest? ) would be George Washington, which works better for accelerated. But last year, a lot of schools went on probation for NCLEX rates. Schools with poor NCLEX rates included George mason hybrid and global. I am not sure what the nova hybrid NCLEX pass rate was. But like I said, one of my classmates was in hybrid and was dropped to the regular traditional for failing a class. And it somehow added a year or do to her finish time.
I worked last night and told my workmates who go to NOVA that I didn't get in. But they said they got their admission letters at different times even though they were in the same class. Some got letters a week after. I don't know what it means. They thought I should wait until it's official, but It's hard to hope. I did have a 76 in grammar, but all my other scores were middle 90s, including science. So I guess we will see. If an 89.3 overall grade is not good enough for teas, then maybe it's time for me to give up on NOVA. I applied because last year, people got in with 70s and 60s.
Congratulations to those who got accepted. We have a facebook page for Spring 2018 Hybrid Nursing Program. Log into Facebook | Facebook
So I just got off the phone with Student Services and they told me that they are staying lol making notifications for both acceptance and rejections. She said they will be making notifications all week and next week if Necessary. She also confirmed that yes, orientation was originally scheduled for the 8th, but because there has been such a delay in notifications, they will be using their back up date of November 15th.

I honestly have a very hard time believing that :/ I'm pretty sure all accepted applicants were already notified
Everyone who's been accepted has definitely been notified, but if one of them declines their spot in the program or if they don't accept it by the date discussed in the acceptance letter, then their spots are given to the next person on the list. They'll only send out denial letters once every single one of the slots has been filled via a confirmation by the accepted applicant. Only when you get a denial letter is when you for sure know it isn't happening for this semester.

I agree. All top ranked students have gotten their offer letter. The rest of us are hoping that one of them declines and frees up a spot. Hold onto hope until you get that denial letter folks. I know its too late for me .
If hybrid doesn't work, you may have to join the traditional in Jan. According to that mail they sent, they will grandfather NAS into the next year. So, if not doing BSN, the NAS should be fine. The traditional scores are much lower, I think. All of my workmates made it in, and they were not even trying that hard. As a fellow mother, I know how hard it is to get the time to go to school when you have bills and kids. My route was longer - I decided to do the LPN first. You may consider doing the LPN at a smaller school. At least you get to be a nurse on a year, then work on that designation later. I personally decided to do this small school in Manassas that costs about 13000 dollars a year. Downside is that you have to pay out of pocket unless your employer covers it. (I went to Ultimate Health School- self pay). At least I got a nursing license. Also, it gives you an extra transcript for competitiveness. And there is no waiting list. But not everyone goes this route as people prefer to just get into the RN program directly. I would say if budget and time constrained, the two main options are 1. Traditional program 2. Ultimate Health School LPN program
What are your thoughts on Ultimate Health? I am considering

I agree, reviews are not always the most accurate. Do you know how the application process at Chamberlain is? Do they only accept a certain few? Ultimate Health certainly works well for my schedule. I'm not sure how Chamberlain is set up. I noticed ECPI is costly and the schedule doesn't work well for me either. NOVA has a LPN program but I think they start in fall 2018. I would love to get started sooner somewhere else if possible
